looking for books: architecture, mythology & fashion topic

    hi there

    mates, i need your help.
i'm searching for some good books on the following topics:

    architecture
mainly about the historical aspect of architecture, not so much modern concrete stuff. ancient cultures, design philosophies are the things i am interested in. both books that are more like a compendium of different architecture styles all over the world as well as specialized ones (like, on a certain region) are appreciated.
europe's architectural history has been beaten to death in school, so it's the other parts of the world that i am more interested in.

    mythology
well, something that has as much info on as many different mythologies, their inhabitants, creatures, gods, whatever, as possible

    fashion
fashion history, development of forms, trends etcetera...
both historical and more modern topics, like tha last century are in my field of interest.

if you know of any book that could fit one of those descriptions, i'd be happy if you could post its name, author and some info -if you have- here.

    thank you

    raphael

    jelanen: np

bryan: let's hope someone posts some books here. i'll drop a note when i stumble across something as well.

death jester: european architecture is pretty well known to me. books about the typical spectrum of western architecture (greek/romans to bauhaus) are quite easy to find.
but there are so many more things that have been built all over the world...

    Hi gekitsu,

beside drawing my hobby is medieval costumes - maybe when I get access to my books again (everything still in moving boxes) I can give you some tips. You just have to say how in depth you want to go (and I´m talking about discussing kind of weaves and stitchlengthes ).

A good begin for fashion and armour from 1300 - 1450 is this Eduard Wagner

It´s quite cheap - if you go into costuming you can easily spend a fortune (look at my credits )

PM me after christmas and I will see what I can work out for you

    Hi gekitsu,

quite nice and rather cheap is this one on mythology:

Die Enzyklopädie der Mythologie: Nordisch - Klassisch - Keltisch, Edition XXL, EUR 12,95 ISBN3-89736-300-3

Short Articles and quite a lot of inspiring pictures from artists from all over the world.

I know that there are other volumes of this edition (seen them at the Mayersche Buchhandlung) but can't remember on which mythologies. I think American Indian was one, maybe also one on chinese/Indian, but I'm not sure.
