Deiras Scribbles (Update: 2. Januar)
I can vaguely remember already having a thread here but it was old and all the links in there were broken, so I'm starting a new one.
About me: I'm living in Leipzig, Germany, and am unemployed right now. I started drawing as a child and never stopped. I love animals, especially rats, and have kept pet rats for more than twelve years. I enjoy all kind of fantasy stuff like art, books, stories. I'm also an experienced roleplayer, I been to various LARP conventions and had a P&P-Group a few years ago, went on to chat- and forum-roleplay-settings later and settled on a World of Warcraft Roleplay Server now.
I would consider myself as a fantasy artist in the beginning of my "career".
I was lingering on this forums now and then, afraid to post something for a long time. Then I was going to have a child and as my daughter was born, I rarely had time for art, and almost no time for internet activities like forum reading and/or posting.
She is two years old now and I'm slowly back into drawing again.
I'm exploring the depths of digital art, right now, as Painter and Photoshop combined with a simple Wacom.
I feel very comfortable with it for doing my sketches and scribbles, but I struggle when it comes to finished digital pieces. My favourite traditional media are watercolour pencils, gouache and acrylics, but I want to expand my horizons a little bit because I enjoy digital paintings.
Well I hope I won't forget this thread again and update it regularly with some stuff.
I finished the following picture today, it's all Photoshop, mostly standart brushes with a few I took from the Photoshop section on CA. I am very pleased with the result for it's my first real try in Photoshop.
Edit 12.03.09: attached another image for tumbnail.

Good morning folks, thanks for the kind replies.
I just found out I forgot my pencil case at my driving school - I hope they kept it and I can get it back today.
So I couldn't do any sketches because the pencils I found here suck.
And my boyfriend took the wacom with him to work so I'm left here with almost no chance to do some decent stuff.
So I decided to revisit an old digital sketch - my userpic comes from it. Doing so, I found out something went wrong with the drivers of my old, Aiptec tablet and it doesn't support pen pressure anymore.
Because of it, all that I did was throwing in some colour splatters in the background. Posting the results.
First, the sketch, than the old concept, and the background splatter. The lyrics on the colour sketch are from Placebo, "Infrared", which actually inspired me to this image.
The character depicted is very special for me, more than a online avatar or an "alter ego", it is the representation of myself in my art.

Not much time right now, busy with stuff.
Here a concept for a digital painting. Referenced the pose from a stock photo. Supposed to be an anthro fox lady.
Edit: Somehow photoshop saved this at low res, will probably reupload it later as I progress on the sketch.

Life's been pretty turbulent right now so not many updates, just a WIP of a personal piece.
I know the background is really crap but I don't have the nerve to do something decent... it should symbolize walls of ice which cover her - and the ice is crackling.

Found my way back somehow. Life is being turbulent, and I didn't painted much since my last update, but I finally found a childminder for my daughter and hope to have more time for art in the next weeks and months.
So here comes art. The finished ones are uploaded as an attachment.

Hey, thanks for stopping by my sb. Maybe I'll do some more dragons, since you asked so nicely.
You seem to be into the whole fantasy animal/man beast kinda thing. I like it.
Your lineart is great. Especially like the pose in the third sketch in the last post. It's really solid.
Just like me, however, you do need to work on the rendering. Try to stay away from the fuzzy airbrush and do more value studies.
This guy is a ca member. His tutorial videos helped me a lot:

Time for another update.
My resolution for the new year is definitely: more art, more sketches especially.
I managed to finish some things in the last few weeks, but did not enough sketches by far. :/
Morlan'darh, both male and female. They are creatures from my world. The drawings were done in school out of shier boredom, but I thought, they were good enough to turn them into a species reference.
World of Warcraft fanart, an old red dragon. The image is cropped, it's done in an A3 sketchbook and it is too large for the scaner.
Something I started a week ago... with the goal to finish it on the same day. And I really did!
And the best... finally finished a painting that lay around at least for half a year unfinished. I really love it.
And some... human... breast... practice... thing!
Some sketchbook doodle. WoW fanart, again.
Worked on the fuzzy draconic thing that is actually a Kir'Naa, a creature from my world, a little bit. Something is still wrong with his arms, but well... it will do for now. Here is the colour concept:

Purchased some acrylic structure paste or what that goo is ever called in english. It is hell of awesome.
I started another one but it's building up pretty slowly while the bear... meadow... thing was finished in around 3-4 hours.
