    Golden Serpent's Sketchbook

Hello everyone, I'm GoldenSerpent and this is my sketchbook, I've been drawing creatures since I was old enough to hold a pen, when I was younger I watched dozens of animal documentaries and any sci-fi or horror movie that had a creature in it. I'm passionate about both art and science so I often strive to make my creatures believable. I'm very open to constructive criticism so if you see anything wonky looking in this thread feel free to point it out! I hope you enjoy browsing around my sketch book.

The two creature concepts are both amazing. I kind would like keeping both apart. The heads work either way, though the first is creepier.
Your colours aren't as good as your sketches, they seem to be to saturated for me. Might just be me though.
Perspective on the raingirl seems about correct though I think a grayer version would suit this more. And maybe place her in an alley of sorts.

Just my 2 cents. Cheers and congrats on a great start to your sketchbook.

    Skeleton Studies + Doodle

Thank you Janos for the first comment on my sketchbook I'm glad you like my creature sketches, I guess I favor more saturated colors, I'll try playing with some more muted tones though. Your 2 cents are greatly appreciated.

Haven't been on much but I've still been drawing

My classes have been eating up my free time so I haven't been on here much but I've still been doing lots of sketches in my real life sketch book. Hopefully I'll get a chance to put some of the better ones up here over Summer. Here's a couple sketches I got a chance to color.

I had been on a dragon kick the couple weekends i made these two. Both are pencil sketches that I then colored in Photoshop.

Love your style in desighn, those creatures are really striking. I like the moods you seem to get from them. The one in your first post have a strange ghostly feel, I like the first rendition in your second post just as much.

I think the enviro's could have some more light, value and hue punch to enhance those effects.

Wow, super creatures! Stay with the studies, esp. the human ones; keep drawing people from reference -- it pays off, trust me.

Keep goin' strong, Golden Serpent Cheers!

    Not Dead

Oh, man I haven't updated in forever, I feel really guilty about that and at the same time I have still been drawing, I guess my problem is that I doodle and fill up sketchbooks but don't have much patience for scanning in everything and then trying to upload it. *sigh* here is an update with a few more sketches mostly some stuff I did digitally (no scanning yay)

NateShaw: Thank you very much I've got a long way to improve with coloring but I'm glad you like how they look so far.

AmontilladoAg: Thank you, I intend to keep up my studies and will be taking a class that focuses on Heads and Hands this upcoming semester

Dahami: I find the fact that you think they look familiar interesting, if you think of what/who they remind you of please let me know.

zaorr: Thank you, yeah I have to start practicing drawing more environments I've noticed that's something I usually neglect.

Hazart: Thank you, I'll try ^_^

Al-Pal: Thank you, I don't do many sweet pictures so I'm glad I managed that one

Okay so now for some new pictures:

One of the quick little sketches in my sketchbook of some sort of death demon fiend thingy.
    Attachment 742284

My most recent picture that I'm really proud of, I'm really happy with the anatomy and also I tried to use much more earthy subtle tones. So far I'm happy with this although I know in a few weeks I'll be noticing all the errors in it.

    2010 Update

Sooo... here's some new stuff for the new year.

    The Harpy:

    Random Rat-headed dude:

This one still amuses me, for whatever reason I've recently been enjoying sticking hideous fish heads on top of the female figure. Also if you look closely you can see the parasitic male angler fish dangling off of her. That's her hubby.

Yes more fish people this time it is Man-fish!

Here's a demonic cat-thing, the "ears" are actually suppose to be horns with large cracked holes in them but I'm not sure I actually got that to come across well enough.
