    21 US States claim Sovereignty

Like overnight. I believe I will be adding to my gun and ammunition collection this weekend. Just in case.

I had heard this on the radio last night but couldn't confirm until this am. Weird news, indeed.

If this is true (I would like to hear it from a website I've actually heard of first), its not as HUGE a deal as it sounds. They are really just trying to reassert states rights over the federal government in terms of laws that the constitution of the US doesn't specifically sign over to the federal government.

This is like going to a conspiracy website and being surprised that they're looking for conspiracies....

I'd wager that this means very little in the long run. I will gladly show concern when they earn it though.

This is stupid. The United States is not going to fall apart. There are very, very few countries in the world more unified culturally, politically, linguistically, and historically than the United States. So you had a bit of a civil war 150 years ago. So what! Find me a country that hasn't in the last 200 years. And while you're at it, check out the UK, where there are political parties dedicated to Scottish independence, or Canada, where there are political parties dedicated to Quebecois independence, even though neither has yet to come close to descending into civil war, or China, where the government feels the need to crack down on Tibetan and Uighur independence movements with deadly force, the same with Russia and the Caucasus, or countries that are having real civil wars right now, like half of Africa. You guys have a long way to go before Hawaiian freedom fighters start shooting at the army with automatic weapons.

Here is what this means: 21 states have already claimed this option, which is the 10th Amendment to the Constitution of the United States, actually many states have been sovereign for years, like California. The weird part is that more states seem to be in a hurry to add themselves to this list.

What the point is: Sovereignty of states in the United States is a movement which gives the states the power to protect the people of their state from federal laws and any action that affects the US at large (like martial law, gun confiscation, etc). California has been sovereign since the early 90's, hence the almost hazy medical marijuana laws that all though they violate federal law, the sovereignty of California protects the citizens.

Monday, February 16th, 2009 there will be a radio show on this here: Coast to Coast AM.

Educate yourself on the facts and how this affects you before attacking the idea. The states aren't doing anything rebellious, they are making moves to protect the citizens that are supported by the Constitution. The real question is: Why now? What is happening that we don't know about? What is coming down the line?

It could very well be, but that isn't why I am bringing this up here. I find it surprising that so many states are suddenly invoking this right and more seem to be hurrying to become sovereign, there has to be something brewing in the background that state representatives of various kinds are trying to get their states protected against federal mandates. It could be about gold and silver ownership (since our money is not backed by anything), martial law (in case the economy takes a serious nosedive and people get desperate) or gun control, among other reasons. I am not trying to promote any agenda, just bringing this curious turn of events up.

When it comes to gun control, I always use both hands.

Sorry, I didn't mean to imply that you were implying, I was asserting that I don't have any particular agenda for posting this, but I believe in two things in this regard:

    1) It is weird that this issue is suddenly cropping up in this manner and
    2) Like a broken clock, anything can be right eventually (like conspiracy theorists).

I am not really into any particular conspiracy, but I do believe that there is something odd about the economy, the ways these strange stimulus packages are being created and addressed to the public (or passed in secret) and this sudden sovereignty issue. There are many little add-ons that I am not sure about, like the FEMA detainment camps, but there is something going on and Americans are, in general, softer than ever and if the government tries anything shifty most people will either follow like sheep or follow out of fear of being in violation of Homeland Security in some manner.
