Aaah Matt, good to see you here mate, you don't browse CA too often don't you?

Unfortunately not, i'm still missing a little less than a half of the sum.
I was hoping for a cash inject but it didn't come...life. Now i won't be able to go there for entire year, beacause i'm starting uhm i guess it's called college in eglish ( altho it's free as goverment pays for it). And they won't let me go absent for 3 months the first year, but off i go when the 2nd year comes. Once again thanks for visi,t you're a true inspiration.

    Cheers.

Started something new, it's going to be a classic fantasy illustration.
I want it to fit to Wizards of the Coast cards theme, as i'd love to work for them someday.

It's stil in super early stage with nothing really going on yet, but at this point i wonder which color scheme to pick, maybe you guys can help me.

Hey Icecold, thanks for dropping by my sketchbook. You have some great Art going on, realy like your Stilllifes. For your current wip i like the first one better so far, maybe try some more colorschemes. The boots look somehow huge as they are now, maybe change them a bit unless you wanted them to be so big. Looking forward to see more, keep it up man.

You went up a bit with your digital work!
The portraits and the figures look good.

I'm really looking forward to your classical fantasy illustration.
About the colour scheme, he looks like a worrier, so i think the 2nd one is more fitting.

    Nice seeing you again!

It's interesting that you chose a rear view for your character since he's the only person in the illustration. You may know this already but if you're going to do that, I'd suggest giving him something real interesting on his back. I see you've indicated some straps already...maybe he's holding some badass lethal weapons on them or some magical items. There's a lot you can do with that to give him a purpose or a role
And about the color...to me he seems darker and more on the evil side just because of his gesture and the way he's hunched over...almost like an undead warrior of sorts. I think the darker blues of the first image work more for that theme, but ultimately it's up to you and what you do with your character. Looking forward to see how you push this one

    Thanks guys!

I actually planned something in the background, but it was not yet included in previous steps, so sorry
And yup he's an undead, here's more progress. ( still rough )

I wonder what that is, back in the background!
    Nice mood.

The pants make it look like his right leg is thinner than the left one.
And considering his back-torso, i'd say he can't have his legs spread out like that..

BlackDelphin I've no clue yet either. But maybe some sort of necromantic hellgate, not sure yet.
There's really alot of mess going on in the sketch, so don't bother it yet alot will be changed in the final as i know myself ^^

Danny_K Sir! Yes! Sir! Zombies are my favourites, they are so cute in their own way ( now i sound really strange here don't I ? )
Anyways i like the idea of them standing around me in big numbers, while i'll show them how it's done with a bazooka couple sacks of nades baseball bat, and all sort of home made accesories x]

Here's a pretty loose study, i did not aim for photo real look. I've added the smoke myself, colors also differ.

    Quite an interesting subject!
The tips of the incense look really colourful and lively. The smoke is a nice touch too.

    A nice study.
The composition is the only thing i think could use some retouching.

And i so totally agree!! It doesn't sound strange! Zombies are soo cute!!

I was very busy today, so there was very little time to do something.
I've managed to do few sketchbook sketches however, but they're nothing fancy just quick studies. Here's a digital sketch i've just finished, oh boy it was super hard to combine 2 anatomies which i have very little knowledge of.
I had to use refference for hoofs.

The photo study is pretty cool, try paying attention to edges and bring out your main subject by reducing the backgrounds saturation.
That glowing face in the dark is RAD!

He looks good, but those upper limbs don't make sense to me. How can he attack you with those?
Will you add colours to it?

Really diggin the way your handle your thumbnails and the sketchiness of your ideas. Looks like you're thinking on paper. Good stuff! You could probably do with some graphite or charcoal value studies. Really try to see how the light affects the form. Look for core shadows and reflected light and try to think about how to render it. You're getting there. Just keep plugging away at it.

Eer no haha i haven't seen the show..at all. Never heard of it.
I looked it up..very unusual stuff lol xD

So if he'll stump me to death, shouldn't he be like..hmm.. :/ a patruped? like..four-legged. I think if they're upper limbs like in his case, that they should vary a bit in shape from the lower ones

nice, work's going good here , as a critique for general stuff you might want to watch the works with smooth brushes, to much smoothness might give that fuzzy feel that just don't cut it , if you know what i mean , the study with the book looks really good in terms of edges and so on, but you got to be careful with that

    take care

Haha yea dude...I'm trying to be more active on CA now though...and a bit more useful heheh.

That's too bad though about watts! Ah but just keep pushing and working hard. If you manage to get to watts later on you'll be able to progress even further as you'd be more developed as an artist!

Thanks for the kind words too! I'd like to leave something more useful but for some reason my browsers not loading your latest images so i'll check back later!

    Cheers!

    Danny_K Spasiba D.

BlackDelphin Well they were just a process of finding a design, i'll updated him with some "normal" anatomy and war gear.

Danny_K Haha, that could be true, altho those are gone ^,^'

    BlackDelphin Hehe, nice chatter guys

Zebz Thanks for the kind words and crit man, i'ts definitely what i was planning to take care of now, you can read in other people minds? ^^

Giorge Ahh edges, i fight with them, struggle alot but i hope i'll win the battle one day. Thanks for useful comments. Giorge u are a brand urself man. Feel free to stop by even more often mate.

mc2mc2 Hmm CA.org is having some problems i guess i'll upload todays stuff on photobucket so you can see it.

So as Zebz mentioned it, i feel like i really need to go back or should i say go and fill the hole that i've dug a long time ago. I've got many cool ideas, however i still lack the technical knowledge and skills to bring them to life and make them shine. What i mean by that, i will focus on really elementary subjects now like: Rendering basic forms, boxes, spheres, cylinders, cones. and some different materials and lightning situations.
It's a good time to learn how to do proper cast shadows.

Anyways here's some stuff i did today:

A little update on that Sargent study, will have to finally finish it soon

Update on my cowman! character, the sketch is kinda messy but it has serve only as a base for the future painting
I will have to repostition his arm abit to give ore sense to his new apperance.

Another sketch for future illustration, it goes to " Future works" folder on my HDD, so it will get done one day ( I hope )

And this, this little sketchfrom head aah.... This was actually finished painting.
I've done it in art rage demo that i've downloaded today. I simply forgot to save godd damn thing more often, so when i finally decided to save it.....Bam! Crash! Now YOU GUYS SHOULD SEE MY ART RAGE@!! I was so pissed, i'm tellin ya over 1 hour of work lost.. here's what's left of it.

P.S I coyldn't even export that to a .jpeg file because mister Art Rage decided, that my PC has too little RAM for the operation. I guess "IT" was right as 4 GB of RAM is truly not enough.... ( sarcasm )
    Here's a print screen.
