RBeek: Thanks man!! It took me a lot of experimenting to achieve this look and approach to brushwork. I use some of Kekai's brush set and if your interested I can post a step by step to give you a better idea of how the sketch progresses.

I took my Ghost in the Shell gun design and started to build it in 3D using Google sketch up. I still have tons to learn with 3D but its a start

Talk about an evolution from your early 2007 work. I find the very first image of the red haired girl strikingly well developed. That being said I have saw several attempts to out do that with your female portraits and studies of the human form. I believe that a natural progression of your art work has been the benefactor in this sketchbook. It showcases how you have grown with your media and as well, your techniques. Keep it up. I know Ill be watching.

Freelance illustrator! Looking for any commisions.

I do Book covers, editorials, conceptual art, character design, CD/DVD covers, comic book covers, graphic novels, double page spreads and anything else visual!!!

j-ace: I really appreciate your comment. My first page is actually from 2009, I lurked around CA for 2 years before starting a sketchbook. I've worked hard to try and improve and I think evolution is the right word for what I've tried to do.

    Updates!!

First is sketch that I'm going to bring to a full illustration as a xmas gift for my pops. He is a DJ and has wanted a cover illustration for awhile. I really like the head placement but if feels like I need to alter the twist of the back or lower the right arm so the anatomy makes sense. Its close but feels a little off somehow. Second is another card illustration for work "Act of the Brave" and lastly a master study of Jeremy Lipking. Mine is on the right (watercolor / digital).

Very inspiring sketchbook. The master study of Jeremy Lipking is great. Do you get this painterly look with photoshop or do you use painter?

I really like that master study. The paintings are really cool too, but maybe the red flame is a tad too strong (Act of the Brave).

    keep up the good work!

Kirsten: Yea I was able to catch the tail end of figure drawing at the KC pod.

Here is some preliminary sketches for class work. First are fashion / character design sketches for our final project in pop culture class. As per the fashion industry the characters are 9 heads tall. Then some enviro sketching where we had to read the book "The Time Machine" and create our own final assignment. I'll be doing enviro sketches for the next month or so and taking the best two to final. Last is a picture of me from this weekend. Had the opportunity to perform live digital visuals with DJ ZSonic in Kansas City for a art / music / fashion event. Was super fun and my first time performing on stage solo using Alchemy. I was drawing on my laptop and the images were projected onto the screen behind me. Slowly but surely I will catch up to Android , and perform for larger crowds and bigger events. Some fucking stellar work of late my friend, really impressive.
The DJ image is coming along great, really like the pull of focus and the foreshortening. Although I think atm the deck is looking a bit too sharp, almost looks cut and pasted into the image. Although this is a wip so I'm sure I shall be eating my words by the end :p

    In other news, this...
    http://www.conceptart.org/forums/att...9&d=1317399403

    is bloody beautiful.

One of the things I particularly like about your work recently is the diversity, you're doing everything from spheres and 3D to album covers and fantasy art. Love it.

Congratulations of the gig as well, sounds awesome, if you get a video of one of your performances you better post it up!

    All the best mate

Dan!!! Hey! Great to have you stop by man. I've been trying to work hard so I'm glad it's showing. The flat graphic quality in the DJ piece in intentional. Experimenting with different looks. I can see how adding more of the graphic element in other areas will help to pull the image together though. That figure drawing was a ton of fun Might try some more work like that in the future. Not sure if there is video of my performance but I'll make sure to get some for future shows.

    Genius: Thank you
