dleoblack: Thanks! The blue monster is actually a game. Its a bean bag toss. You gotta get the bean bag through the mouth to win fabulous prizes! (it's for little kids)

Ok, I finished the photoshoot. Here's a bunch of different lighting schemes. I gotta pick one...

Wow Nick it's does look brilliant, I can't imagine how tricky it must be to do the hanging vines under the canopy. Shame it will be destroyed but at least you have all these lighting studies of it which are really interesting. It's a great creation and I really admire your imagination and skills.

WOW - I'm really impressed by how original and inventive that is. No crits from me, just admiration for creating something like that. I'm definitely feeling motivated to create something 3-D now

Marian Rowling: Thanks a lot! It was kind of tricky to put some of that finer stuff together without squishing the work I had done before. I'm really glad that you like it!

    ThomasM: Thank you!

Ok, I did some perspective stuff. I should be starting the final drawing soon. Then it'll be on to value studies

I really like your tree sculpture and those photo studies look like they would be fun to paint from. Great perspective sketches. Where did you learn how to do 3 point perspective? I've only learned how to do 1 and 2 point perspective correctly and accurately. 3 point I usually just wing it. I know you need a third vanishing point but that's about it.

Istmin52: Thanks, man! For 3 point perspective I have a book called The Complete Guide to Perspective by John Raynes and I bought Carl Dobksy's tutorials from this website. Its really just for 1 point and 2 point, but he touches on 3 point at the end. There's also handprint.com that has very detailed information on perspective, but its kind of hard to follow. I still don't completely understand how 3 point works and how to use it well. It takes a while to wrap your brain around it.

Haha Nick I love the tortoise/tank concept, you do have some really cool ideas. Tree piece is looking great, it doesn't matter how many times I have seen it before it still amazes me. Just really fascinating to look at.

I had to crop this in order to complete it. There was just way too much rendering to do to get it done in time.

What medium are images like the last one in the last post? They look like colored pencil or something.

I think if the guy with the fan on his back was just a little darker overall he'd be easier to read.

Good work man, you're still doing it! Keep it up!

Quigleyer: It's charcoal colored in photoshop. Hehe the fan is actually supposed to be a satellite dish. I didn't want to just slap a dish network dish on him so i went with something a little funkier. I guess it makes sense to consider weight when you have carry something around all the time right? I probably should have gotten it to read better.

But about the value balancing issue. My wife suggested about the same thing. This was the result. I was kind of going for something little more light and airy with this one, but i think maybe i need to work on that. For now things'll seem to go better in the dark and decrepit range. oh well.

VERY interesting concepts. It reminds me of HR Giger sketches. I love the humans in the tree drawing.

Would be AMAZING to see that one colored in Photoshop!

DeJakhalz: Thanks, man! I actually already have some color studies of the tree drawing done in photoshop. Hopefully soon I'll get the acrylic painting finished.
Marian Rowling: Thank you! I try to keep it interesting. The skull photos were just a quick shoot for someone to use as reference. Its not for anything in particular.

The fist one is a post-apocalyptic norse city (I decided to go with a future setting where robot vikings bring about the apocalypse of man)

and the second one is death's office.
