Though I also voted for three others...![]()
Managed to be something of a vote-aholic this time, despite my best efforts (too many talented peoples here!) Voted for:
DeadRed: Loved the subtle colour combination, and quite frankly evil pandas will get my vote pretty much anywhere.
Jessibean: I desperately try to find reasons I might not vote for your pieces, but they are watertight, and always awesomely designed, so I couldn't help myself. I'm particularly fond of the hand on the right holding the skull.
Flipnasty: Awesome design, and again the colour combo is a winner for me, combined with the pose it makes for a very interesting character, I want to know more about him, who he is, why he's like that and what on earth is going on!
Matjosh: This guy wins on charcter, pure and simple. Your technique is awesome, but everything in this illustration is well used to add to the character, which for me, is what these challenges are about. Awesome work.
Decaying Lolita: The costume sold me on this one... there's a lot of what I might have considered if I'd even been aware this was the chow subject (which I'm irked over!) but I love the subtle purples and the bright yet dead tone of skin. Great stuff.
Baxter I originally had you in my almosts list, but when I was trying to think of why you belonged there rather than here I couldn't come up with anything, so here you are! The concept is simple, but it's very well executed, there's just the right level of detail in it, and the colours, composition and pose all leave you in no doubt as to what this character is all about.
Trevor: I ummed and ahhed over this one.. technically it's awesome, as it the design. Ultimately it was the characters expression that sold me, something about the slight smugness and cocksured-ness standing amidst that rubble. Without that hint of personality it would have been an almost.
Some almost votes included Hungryan cause the animation is an original way of looking at this and is awesomely done, and I know you were probably aiming for a retro look, but I can't help feel the design of the big bad dude could ahve been explored a little more. Shannanigan LOVE the concept of a zombie pirate queen, and I do like the contrast offered, but I what would have sold this for me is just a hint of zombie-ness about the character herself. Wassermelone Adore the colour scheme and the textured finish of the piece, and the design is pretty good too, there's just something in the body language that's not selling him as a villain for me. Ryuloulou Great colour choices, and the style is lovely. Digging the top design too, but the overall composition and not quite being able to figure out what she's doing was what held me back on this. Sentinel13 This is almost an opposite of the issue I had with Trevor's piece... the expression is right in your face and quite arresting, as are the colours and the technical finish, but I dunno... I would have liked to have seen a couple more hints about the character herself in the image. But a great pic nonetheless. And a great round!
I voted for these artists:
deadred: That giant panda is kick-ass. That baby panda is kick-ass
cute. That girl looks hot and cold.
HUNGRYMAN: Hahahahahahahahaaahahahahah....................... .......
.................................................. ...................................cool.
Trevor: It' looks great. The awesome background ties everything
together nicely.
Mr. P.
Hungryan's = Street Fighter 3's Urien?

Cervel: Wow! Now that's a weird coincidence. As I've played a lot of Street Fighter, it can be that I've remembered this pose or something, but I just wanted to make a generic bad guy. I've made it too generic. Now that I look at it, the pose looks very much like Urien's, my version just looks worse and less dynamic. I've made this from scratch, the animation as well, so I will not feel bad about it, but thanks for pointing out the similarity. I still can't believe this.
