    hei guys !

-this is my entry for a cgchallange
In these new times, the tremendous task of transporting the souls of the dead across the Styx to the Underworld was taken over by machines, machines unconceivable centuryes ago.Now,...Charon,the boatman who for milenia had completed the job, done now by hundreds of these machines, can only watch the souls passing...

-Second image is called Exile, hope you like it!

-2 more personal works hope you guys like!

    UPDATE!

Added a few more works.. the blue enviro is a comission done for Imaginefx, lighting workshop.
dominance war entry, space pirates, and a post apocaliptic one..last chance and an older one..another ship chase ...

I like it a lot. Particularly the way that cable draws the volume of space from the winding gear to the tower - it gives the piece its brooding mystery. (I also like the shield like little rectangles that stagger along its length setting up an animation rhythm on its way to the tower - inspired drawing idea) Great stuff.

    Very awesome.

Might I suggest making Charon's staff look more like an oar? And have a wrecked, unusable boat ramped up somewhere next to him. I wouldn't have guessed that was the boatman until I read it in your description.

Also, I find it hard to see souls in the picture, or any representation that this is the river Styx. Don't get me wrong, the painting itself, the colour and composition, is beautiful. But I think that a couple souls/demons or a Cerberus might really aid pushing the idea you're trying. Best of luck!

I like it a lot, the design work is well integrated in the compositions... and the palette is sweet.

Thanks guys for the nice words and crits!
Chris Bennett -thank you very much!

    caleb havertape-cheers !

BlightedArt-thanks! True i should have made the souls passing m,ore evident but i thought it would lead the image drom steampunk into fantasy to much;i couldnt find a suitable place for a wrecked boat and not make things look crowded

    cmalidore-i appreaciate it thanks!

    illustratorwayne-cheers!

Michal-i dont think i ripped off the pallete and such 1-2-3 compositions are not only used by martiniere.

    hummel1dane-thank you!

    germ-X-cheers !

    m@.-thank you!

Some very cool stuff. Really interesting design elements in the first on, very creative.
The second one has more atmosphere than you can shake a stick at. I could see that scene in an epic movie. Its nothing short of amazing.
    Keep it up!

Really nice work. I see a heavy influence of Stephans work in there.

I like the last one a lot - wonderful enigmatic mood to it and nice projection concept off the guy's face. Just slight reservations about the rendering of the foreground sandbank and how it meets the figure.
