    Amatuer image using GIMP.

    Amatuer image using GIMP.

I couldn't upload the image as it was too large. I hope you guys like it I know it's not the best but it took a bit of time learning how to use GIMP just to make something like this. What do you all think?

Hmm tough crowed I guess I posted it in the wrong place. I only made it animated to test the limits of what I can do in GIMP.

It's hard to respond to an image like this. It is hypnotizing, and strange, but feels like just a bunch of filters have been thrown together. It doesn't give us a whole lot to discuss.

What kind of paintings do you want to be able to make in GIMP?

Well I guess you're right about that and as for what type of paintings I have no idea to be honest I just usually draw and paint things that I see or want to express. This was some test using gimp really, I've never used a digital art program before so I was just pretty much experimenting. I thought it was kind of cool even though it was just some renders thrown together. Thanks for the replies.

*edit* This was supposed to be a quote for soulweaver.

It's kind of hard to describe, it has a tension about it, an uneasiness due to the landscape wavering away from it.
Despite being the big orange thing at dead center, it gives way to the darker value of the bottom half to me.
Maybe something smaller, a figure perhaps--something special--at a third would be nice?

    Interesting software though.

If the ball had a glowing effect the distortion could have been interpreted as heat?

Iz kind off looks like waves. I actuall ydon't mind it, but try adding a little more story maybe with something more legible. As an exercise its okay.
