What Music Have you Bought Recently?

I'm stealing this idea from a bunch of other forums. It's very cool to see what music people are buying! DOWNLOADS DON'T COUNT UNLESS YOU PAID FOR THE MUSIC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Today:

My Deathspell Omega/S.V.E.S.T. LP came in the mail! Woot!

I also got at the store (all on vinyl):

Isis - The Red Sea (black/red record... uberly cool!)

Wolves in the Throne Room - Two Hunters

    Mono - You Are There

Godspeed You! Black Emperor - Lift Your Skinny Fists...

    Mike Oldfield - Ommadawn

    Santana - Caravanserai

I can't wait to hear that WitTR one on vinyl. For some reason I've always thought about WitTR when thinking about LPs...

    Woohoo for legally purchasing music!

Lately I've been really into all of the bands and solo artists spawned off from my favourite band, Kansas. The only place I can really find any of their stuff is online though, so this morning I bought a few songs off of iTunes.

Various solo stuff by Steve Walsh (Kansas' singer/keyboardist) and David Ragsdale (incredible rock violinist), as well as some Proto-Kaw (Reunited Kansas lineup from the 70's). It's all good.

I bought a few more records today. I LOVE used record shops!

    Black Sabbath - Paranoid
King Crimson - In the Court of the Crimson King
    Camel - Mirage

The Sabbath album was my favorite album for years and I still love it so I needed to get it on vinyl! I love ItCotCK too! I threw in that Camel one because it was really cheap and I didn't already have it...

I'll probably buy one or two more tomorrow and then I'm done for a while. I'm all out of money hahaha.

Your music threads are fun Jake.

Ashes Divide: Keep Telling Myself It's Alright
    Zero7: Simple Things
Staind: The Illusion of Progress (meh)

I've wanted the Ashes Divide for awhile. I love it. Its the raw power behind A Perfect Circle without all the poppy-ness.

    Buy... music?

Nah, kidding. Actually only thing I've "bought" music-wise lately is a subscription to Digitally Imported (di.fm).

I still buy cds because I don't have an MP3 player in my car. I don't like getting them for free (but have in the past), and don't like shit like how Itunes limits you. There's always amazon, but even then the car issue comes up.
Also, there is just something missing to me, when I can't peruse the lyrics and booklet on the couch or at a traffic light while I'm listening. A scan in the torrent file just isn't the same. I see a dark day when all music is digital, and no album artwork or design goes into them which is all part of it to me. Maybe it'll be wrapped up in some kind of "E-card" like fashion, who knows what the future holds. But until then, I'll be a stubborn bastard, and I'll keep buying CDs until they stop printing them.

    SO....

    Kreator - Hordes of Chaos
Thou Art Lord - Orgia Daemonicum
Necromantia - The Sound of Lucifer Storming Heaven
Sodom - Persecution Mania/In the Sign of Evil/Obsessed by Cruelty (came as a 3 pack for 16 bucks! Couldn't refuse that deal).

Mixture of new and classic stuff. Overall, it's a kickass mix of hellenic black metal and oldschool thrash that is kicking my ass. Great purchases.

Well actually you can download vinyl, if you've got a USB turntable like I do in which case you can convert vinyl to mp3 or whatever format you like. That having been said:

the Draft - "In A Million Pieces" CD

Maaster Gaiden - "Sayonora" 7" (transparent gold vinyl, limited to 100)

the Draft - "Stop Wastin' My Time" 7" (light grey marble vinyl)

OMG... I just bought a copy of the WOLVES IN THE THRONE ROOM - LIVE AT ROADBURN 2008 LP/DVD on Red Vinyl... limited to 200 copies (the entire pressing limited to 500). I was starting to believe it didn't actually exist, at least not in the US...

With the last bit of my money ( ) I bought (all on LP):

    Chariots - Congradulations

    GSY!BE - Yanqui UXO

Cult of Luna - Eternal Kingdom

I also won an ebay thing for Pentemple - O))) Presents but I don't have the money for it so I might make up an excuse to try to get out of buying it...

p.s. I had no friggin idea what the Chariots album was but it was highly recommended and cheap. It sounds like very discordant indie hard rock. Pretty unique stuff actually, sort of cool. Cool usage of keys. I'd give it like a 2.5/5

If that track "ghost hardware" hadn't been my first introduction to burial I probably wouldn't have gotten into it. After many repeated listens I'd say it's like Telefon Tel Aviv meets dubstep.
And VS is ridiculous. "children's limbo" on find candace is one of favorite tracks.

I bought this last year at FYE, and though I haven't listened to it since then, I love it. Now to find some Türmion Kätilöt, Infected Mushroom, and Ka-Sol CDs.

    Very nice.

If anyone's into this kind of music, can you recommend some?

I liked it quite a bit. Different sound that worked pretty well. Their next one is supposed to be more ambient.

Well I've been limiting my purchases lately since I'm saving for a computer, but this month I bought (all on CD because it's cheaper, more convenient and still sounds great):

    Flaming Lips - Embryonic
Animal Collective - Merriweather Post Pavillion
    Animal Collective - Sung Tongs
    Johann Johansson - Fordlandia
    Ink & Dagger - Ink & Dagger
Noah and the Whale - The First Days of Spring
Modest Mouse - Moon and Antarctica
    The xx - XX

ROTFL! I was reading this and saw the date February 7th. I freaked thinking I lost a week or so. Oh isn't beer delicious.

The last album I legally bought was the devil makes three. It's some soulful ass blue grass that cut their teeth in the punk scene.
