    Recommended tools to achieve this look?

    Which tools would be best to achieve this sort of look? The textures just look absolutely amazing, particularly the skin and the clothes, and the hair looks so real. I've been trying to experiment with various tools yet none of them seem to be doing it for me.

    Considering it's a 3d paintover,
    you can use ncloth for creating realistic clothes, emulates both texture and physics, and hair tools like maya fur;
    hyper realistic skin could be created by means of subsurface scaterring shaders (like maya misss shader)
    and it's painted over in photoshop, so that's a wrong forum.

    Um, I know it's done in 3-D. I'm just asking which tools could be used for this sort of realism.

    basically any tools in either ps or painter. realism has very little to do with tools and alot more to do with skills. thats why you can create realistic work in ps or painter or oil paint or acrylics or charcoal or the list goes on.

    ppl often ask these kind of questions believing the brush is what made the painting, but brushes dont make paintings ppl do. realism is created with a solid understanding of the basics like structure, color, edges and drawing
