I know how much motivation a comment like that can bring some time, if not a t least a smile so i give my best when commenting, take it seriously and don't hold back

I think you'll really post some intriguing drawings with those custom brushes of yours real soon, but so far i see you making really interesting colour combinations.
Your 30th and 31st contours are really nice, and i like seeing you approaching different more complicated angles. I should make a few today too. I haven't done them in a couple of days already!~

And as always, creative, nice loomis figures. Perhaps try and do some maniacs in that style too?
This one: http://i465.photobucket.com/albums/r.../Sargeant4.jpg really captured my attention through its mood and idea..i really hope to see you add more highlights and detailing it!

And on your last photo study i can see you starting to blend those textures of yours, but instead you neglected the edges, especially where those rays are coming from. But i guess if it weren't a speedie, you would have corrected that.

You're one of the hardest working artist i saw around here so i added you to my sig. So i'd better see you keep this up!!
Take care and see you soon!!

Oi there, fellow daggerer. One fine sketchbook you have here.

Those Sargents are looking sweet. Nice textury feel. Maybe some more definition needed on edges though. Loomis studies are looking good too.

Damn, you work so hard you're making the rest of us feel like bunch of lazy ass procrastinators. Keep it up.

Great. Reduce the blackness because it makes them little muddy
You need more sharp areas in the enviros(for example maybe in the water part where the sun rays are reflected.Actually you have more detail there but need to be a little more crisp
    keep up the good work

OK catching up on replies I missed over the last few days. Some of you have two you lucky things

Alexson - Thanks bud, yeah I need to draw faces, you're right!! I will too

KingKostas - Yep enviros need more defining, I tried that more on my latest one.

Soundpath - Yeah a lot of ppl mentioned contrast on the Sargent study, I'll try push it some more!

My57 - Procrastination is bad bad bad! Get back to work

Nickybeats - Yoyo, hope you're well bud, thanks for checking in! Yeah hard work = good things, I find out every day!

BlackDelphin - I see what you mean on the ray of light, yeah they could do with some work - it was a test about brushes primarily I guess and I left a lot of things out then it was too messy to fix it all lol!

Natzuur - Thanks for dropping by - well as the Daggers lets kick group ass huh!

Ismo - Yep you're right more defining, everyone keeps telling me this, i'll try harder!

Ageloas - Thanks bud, yeah the daggers are off the hook lol! Lets keep it going.

Blackdelphin - Thanks, well just think about how much you love art and equate your time accordingly! I just read your sb 1st entry lol you're 18 that's so young, enjoy your time!! I never started any serious work till wayyyy later! But ya, draw and have fun, balance

Kingkostas - Okies muddy, I'll try the blackness thing!

Noukah - Good to hear from you, thanks for the kind words

Danny K - Thanks matey, yep details details, I'm trying to spend longer now.

Jailhouserock - Thanks dude! I hope I am I spend enough hours a day!

Soundpath - Thanks dude, means a lot coming from your awesome self

Ok weird week, Monday/Tuesday pretty much slept all day, some problem I get, me or somethin dunno weird, cant get out of bed for days>.< let alone draw anything, you guys dunno how lucky you are if you're normal!!

Anyways I worked every long last night and today on this painting, photo study - next though I start my own work for me, not photo/master copies. I think I'm good enough for my own work now? I hope anyway.. to start some.

There's a bigger version on my DA acc, in sig - orig is 5600px tho :o

    details..

Some pelvis work I did before felt unwell!

Thanks for stopping by, Alex! The still lifes and environments are looking good as usual. If you want to get started on oil painting, that's much easier than you'd imagine and not nearly as scary as it seems. Just need to following-

Oil paints - Titanium White, Yellow Ochre, Terra Rosa, Ivory Black. All of these are fairly cheap.
Brushes - Flats and filberts. Get large ones for now, just as in digital, a bigger brush is better than a small one. You can skimp on everything except these, a bad brush will make your life hell.
    Lindseed Oil (increase paint flow)
    Odorless Mineral Spirits (solvent)
Canvas or masonite panel. If you want to use a really cheap surface for your studies, tracing paper works great as well, as it wont absorb the oil. If you use canvas or panel, you'll need gesso to seal it.

So yeah, with those in hand, start doing some black and white still lifes, and eventually start using the colors. Doing color charts will help you learn every possible combination of the pigments, you can get a surprisingly wide range with just those (the black acts as a blue). There are tons of threads on CA and elsewhere on techniques and stuff. Hope that helps you get started .

DANG! Shiny circular metal!! BULBS on top!!! >_< I have bad memories with those!! One took me two days to do right with all the little shiny bits and make it look solid, and when i tried again took me two days again and this time no use..
So i think you did really really well with these! Especially if they are after life

All i would suggest is making the values po up a bit more.

The pelvis study are beautiful, like all your anatomy studies, really nice lines, and that landscape too, like the still seems to me that it needs more contrast..

But you didn't have this problem in your last post so i guess you'll fix it next time
    See you!

Wow, you improved! And you found your own quite typical style: a soft style, sometimes even too soft in my opinion. Especially some environments are too soft, for example the ones from #243 - try to use harder edges and structures here. Your anatomy is very good! Keep up the good work!

    Heyyy Alex is back!!
And this looks certainly like a nice idea!

I think you should make your light sources mroe clear, add a bit more saturation and take care of that background on the lift
You certainly blurred her a body a lot, but still that gate witch should be the same, is not.
I don't know about others, but that certainly confuses my eyes!

    Good luck in the competition!!

Heya Blacky! Well thanks for being kind about it, but I really hate the picture lol I'm way out of my depth trying to create such a piece, don't worry the whole thing confuses the hell out of me too, I didn't really have any plan or anything so that's why it's a mess. Anyway the competition's over and I have no intent of going back to try and fix this now!! I tried that for a whole day hehe and it got worse.

I didn't learn anything other than to make a plan before rendering

    Some update shizzle -

    New master study WIP

    Couple of quick still lifes

    Contour drawing -

Well i am not sure what you meant to say with out of your depth, but i think you want to say it's to much?! Neeeah we can do stuff even we don't think we can! if it's one thing i learned since i have started my sketch book, that is i should not consider if i can or cannot do something! i should just start it!
I think you should leave it for a while, and try to work on it after a couple of days..
Good to hear your rendering is better!!!

About the new post, i really like your head studies, especially the girl. She has some nice features.
I think you should do a more detailed portrait, yes i do! And i am most eagerly awaiting it!

I just looked through your sketchbook and the progress you made since your first post is amazing. It seems like you're using similar colour combinations in several of your more finished works from imagination, though. But maybe that's just coinicidence.
Can't wait to see how good you are in another year if you keep practicing like that.

Couple of Contour drawing, lol made my poor ol mum look like a giant in one of them hah. Never really done a contour human much, pretty hard!

    5min-ish

    10min ish

Still life 1hour, argggh hard i hate still lifes!

Head from Loomis book, it's bad I know, I shouldn't have chosen a loomis book to copy from cos well he doesn't draw great heads, though he's a great teacher!

    Some mannikinz from memory

Lovin' the bazooka figure at the end!

And the contours are really nice once again. I'd love to see more of your human contours.
