This landscape is so magical and mystical. The lighting is very pleasant.
That forest environment in post 932 is overflowing with badassery man, awesome! Maybe slightly too much going on in the foreground, at least I found myself getting a bit lost in the detail away from the main focal point, especially the face in the lower left. It might have to do with me being on a laptop though, have to scroll from one half to the other just to see it all haha. Keep going!
Blimey thats good!! I love the jungle enviro with the ship, I cant see anything at all to crit, actually its one I'd have on my wall mate its that good, so give yourself a pat on the back and go do it again!!
all the best mate (no pressure!)

I enjoy your pencil work. Every fancied doing a picture in oils?
Looking around through your first page then jumping to your last page was an incredible leap of skill, ha. The gesture studies on your first page compared to something like the environment you've posted on this is something totally inspiring, to say the least. I'm subscribed because you've just given me a lot of hope in knowing that with enough practice and dedication, I'll be a great artist like this as well. Thanks.
really great stuff you have here. i have a critic for the mountains city enviroment painting. there is so much going on, its hard to find something you can focus on. makes the image look busy and chaotic instead of calm, but on the other side maybe thats intentional to support the storm(?) thats blowing through the city

Keep up the hard work Alex your progression in this sketchbook is awesome to see. With time comes wisdom.
have a good one
sketchbook updated October 6th
You're doing a really good job on the enviros!
I watched each page one by one (unfortunatly a lot of images are gone) and you're enthousiasm, you're high working capacity and your progress just make me feel soooooo lazy ^^
Your studies are beautifull, your environements are gorgeous and your characters have personnality, also it seems that you always try new things (like the last environement which is beautiful btw). A really inspiring sketchbook, thanks !
I talk too much, I have to draw now :p
Alrap - Cheers bud, means a lot digital!
Pierce - Thanks man, was fun!
Qikalain - Yes you're right! There's too much shit about. Shows my inexperience, I tried to increase teh focus a bit but meh, onwards and upwards! Thanks for the advice

Theotenai - Haha, well I'm lazy really - it just looks like I work hard cos you see 3years condensed into a few minutes I a lazy ass procrastinating mofo in reality. But yeah the main thing is to stick with it and not give up. And at least limit wasteful stuff in life!

Cheezah - thanks that's too kind of you!
Ste - Hey dude, thanks for droppin by, hope you're doing good.
Mateja - Oh well I am humbled and thx. Inside im still a 2star beginner though, its crazy how much one has to learn!
Not much of an update, I think I'll stop scanning my studies, can't see the point in spending time on that; I have been doing a lot of anatomy and gestures everyday however.
I want to learn characters, poses, design and stuff now, so I am going to do CHOW and character forge when I can. And I'm only accept char commissions, so forcing myself to learn it, need to stop hiding behind environments for now.
Here's an update on this week's CHOW. Crits welcome!!! (please dont say "more contrast" lols)
Just kiddin haha i had to...
But seriously, nice atmosphere!! Love the feeling of desolate/hostile enviroment in this! Theres hardly a landscape but i can easily read the harsh feeling of one in this bg. Great work as always Alex!!
First of all, great work all around, especially the landscape from #931!
My only crit for your last Chow would be that the mass of the sandstorm is too unifrom. What I mean is that the sandstorm is just as thick in front of her rigth leg ( left to a lesser extent) as it is in the background, which doesn't help to create the illusion of perspective/illustrate the ground plane. Because of that the character seems to be "pasted in" rather then being integrated in the environment. But otherwise, I think your entry has a lot of potential because the picture is telling a story.
A creative artist works on his next composition because he is not satisfied with his previous one. When he loses a critical attitude toward his own work, he ceases to be an artist. - Dmitri Shostakovich
crazy good stuff! Great work, very inspirational.
Go Alex ! Loving your sketchbook
I just can`t wrap my head around those environments of yours...wow. Just wow.
5* and a bump, seriously...brava. Brava!
Wow Alex you are a big inspiration, I have to admit before I have seen your sketchbook on the forums thread and scrolled down , because I had been in a hurry, but this time I took a look I am very glad I did , you are killing it man keep up the great work. Also I am from Essex as well it is weird, I haven't really found any concept artists at least from Essex yet, I guess this was my lucky day, anyway keep it up
Some really good stuff here, I noticed.
Awesome studies and the subjects of your paintings/drawing vary a lot which makes your sketchbook really interesting to go through. Cool stuff, keep up the good work!
