This is driving me mad, finding a window palette in painter 8

Well as the title says, i am looking for a window palette in Painter 8, I was watching a old tutorial on Ryan Church and noticed that i can not find this window selection that allows the quick selection on a brush that you like using. I dont think it is the tracker palette and i think it would be painter 6-8 due to the fact it is an old tutorial.

In Painter X you simply drag the brush variant icon (top right) from the properties bar into the workspace which creates a Custom Palette. I don't know about other versions, I'm afraid. You can save and manage these palettes by going to Window>Custom Palettes>Organizer.

Sure, you need to download and install the Painter 8.1 update from here. Painter 8 itself was released without the option to create custom palettes, but this was later reinstated via. the update patch after much commotion from users.

What you want is called Custom Palettes. As David (sandman) said, Corel Painter 8 was released without Custom Palettes. So many of us were upset to see that feature had been removed, Corel brought Custom Palettes back in the Painter 8.1 Update.

If you're a Windows user, and if you download the Painter 8.1 Update from the Corel FTP site (which is where I download Painter patches, Updates, and other items available there), be sure not to download the file named:

    File: Corel Painter 8 TBYB Update.exe 10857 KB 11/13/2003 12:00:00 AM

That file is for the Try Before You Buy trial version only.

Also, be sure to download the updated CorelPainter8UserGuide.pdf. As I recall, it includes instructions for creating and using Custom Palettes.

Please do not PM me with Painter questions. Instead, post them here where everyone can benefit from them. Thanks!
