I'm kinda nervous about starting this SB as I'm new to the world of digital art in general and photoshop in particular.
I'm unsure of both the quality of my work and how useful/valuable any critiques or advice I can give may be (though I'll do my best!)
Anyway, Here goes!
Playing with light
This started out by playing with light sources.
I've also been looking at old ChoW threads and the idea of the dreamcatcher caught me, so thats what evolved into.
I may polish it up a bit at a later date.
Anyway: The Dreamcatcher.

Given the standard of many Chow entries, I don't expect to get through to poll. I enter because I dont usually get a lot of practice at full figure, most of my drawings/paintings being portrait/busts.
I figured I repost my entry for Chow 145 here and see if anybody would point out where I'm goin wrong?

Thanks for posting on my SB Platonist, limb proportions is somehting i've been working on. I like your studies on light, esspecially your knight character on post #4
A little more playing with light. And the beginnings of an attempt on Titania (I know its too late for the Chow, but I want to finish it!) I'm not happy with it so C&C would be appreciated.
ive done a bit more messing around with the titania pic. gone back a step or two. still not happy with it but its better than it was... i think...
some old sketches/doodles/portraits i have lying around on my mac.

Sketch of a man from an advert for Ermenegildo Zegna (?) in a newspaper magazine. lemme know what you think.

the eyes of your india guy are a little squiffy - I did like your drawing of the old lady a couple of posts up, looked really realistic.
Thanks for posting on my SB ^_^
Yeah I was having some trouble with them... they do kinda make his whole face look a bit mashed to one side... hmmm...
That said it was his half smirk that made me wanna draw him in the first place. The other people in the ad (that is the models) were taking themselves so seriously and he just looked like he was trying not to burst out laughing.

I think I'm regressing. Ive just read Castle in the Air by Diana Wynne Jones (she also wrote Howl's Moving Castle). Its supposed to be for kids, but its a fun read nonetheless. Anyway it inspired this... I think its probably the best thing i've done with photoshop yet (not saying much I admit.) Let me know what you think.

not posted for a while so felt an update was in order.
The first one started out as a rough doodle of some sort of goblin or troll, I think it turned out quite well.
The second is a work in progress inspired by the art of matt wilson.
As ever, let me know what you think.
a little more progress on the steampunk warrior woman...
1. practice more often
2. get some one to model for pics more often than i have til now.
3. update more frequently
4. try to draw scenes rather than just characters
5. enter more CHOW.
Updates should become easier as i have finally managed to get a working scanner so i can upload pencil sketches... let the madness ensue...

right, Think he's done, excluding any errors that people would like to point out.
I'm falling behind on the resolution to update regularly already
I'll post something soon, promise...
I Know, I know, I haven't been updating as often as promised.
To make up for it I have this piece - It was inspired by a sculpt from studio Mcvey. Its still in the early stages but I figured now was a good time to get input on it!
A year since my last post
I'm working in London at the moment and have taken to carrying a sketchbook with me.
here is hopefully the first of many updates.
Its a bleak little sketch reflecting a darkly humorous thought that runs through my head when i see warning signs on building sites.
Before anyone gets offended, yes it's unpleasant, I dont actually find it particularly amusing myself. Tis sketch is simply to exorcise the thought, and allow space for new ones.
