First of all welcome!
I really like the texture you managed to achieve and the realism of the owl. The eagle on the other hand seems a little comicy, if you know what I mean.
This is a nice start to an interesteing sketch book. Go on posting, especially more animals, and it'll be a blast.
How are you at colours and human anatomy? show us more.

Thnx Janos, even i m really proud of wat i achieved with the owl. eagle is the result of the tight deadline. the submission days were nearing at a faster phase and i had to match it in the speed of my drawings and compromise the quality. but i get the picture. thanx
M really bad with colors. and anatomy is smthing which i am now concentrating more on. i need to improve a lot in that area. it felt wierd reading your question coz, u asked about exactly the two things i m not so great at. it was as if u knew me..
i shall create a new sketch book for my scribbles and rough works. there i will post my other works. the one i will maintain for the submission works m doing.

Thanx for the tip. i thought of keepin a separate sketchbook because these are drawing m doin on a specific size sheet n they r done for my course submission. so they will be a neat set of works. and the others will be scribbles done in a corner of my drawing pad or may b some half done digital painting n some old works. so i jz thought of organising them together. also i wont b able to incorporate the comments from the talents here to my submission works. anyways, suggession appreciated and thnx for the wishes.

I myself feel the head of the horse and may be even the body itself could have been made slightly longer. also for the bear, the referece image was not that clear. so i kindo made the eyes on my own. i have a feeling its not right? wat do u feel???

I cannot crit your work. But I think your birds are fantastic. Wish I could get that much detail into my birds. I have to draw them for a College assignment, so gotta be quick and sketchy. Great great pencil work. I'm looking forward to more of your work.
The horses head looks too small, and there seems to be an issue with it's hind legs.
The bear, I cant say really. Looks cute But your birds, like, wow. That owl is amazing.

hey thanx Oakseed,
felt very nice to read ur comments. even these works are for a college assignments. but m doin a distant education program. so we have a couple of months to do roughly 40-60 images. these works took roughly 1-2 hours.
thnx a lot for the motivating words.

Hey man! Nice work!!!I like it! Anatomy picture can help you raise the level of painting.

if i got it right you're in art school assignment phase, too? if all your pieces are this well done, assignments shouldn't be a problem, keep 'em coming!
January 19th, 2009 #15
Like most here, I too am enjoying the birds, but I also like the other animals! You capture soft animal textures very well Anyways, keep it up!

AAAAhh nice to see another Indian down here.... Try looking up artists from bangalore here...and meet them in person , some of those guys will help you tons.
Like the studies , but study from photos which are strongly lit, so the sense of form is better and easier.
also also trying shading the side of pencil rather than crosshatching, it helps when you do a transition to painting.
Take care bro .

s-man : Thnx dude. i know anatomy study can help me a lot. thts an area where i need to improve.
Carg0re : Thanx a lot bro...

bhanu : Thanx brother. glad to recieve a comment from u. i have seen ur replies in other threads too. even in some of my friends threads also. so finally even i got it...
i am in contact with a couple of artists. i m workin in an animation studio. so m surrounded by artist. only few of them qualify to give good reviews. thts y m here....
m not that great in photography. so i depend a lot on internet sources or books. so if u can recomment any gud books it would b the best u cud do for me.
i shall surely try smooth shading. crosshatchin is a quick way to finish off the work. thts y i use that one.. but since u mentioned that connection of it to painting, i shall surely do some works later.
over all thanx a lot. m expecting more help from people like u?
where r u in delhi? working? i have my best friends there, so i frequent that place.

Hi, I really enjoyed your sketches Vish. I can't really give any constructive criticism because to me your rendering style is your own and unique, all I would say is keep on drawing! It also obvious that the ones you spend longer on are better, but they all look good imo, and the owl is just fab.

Hi there ^^
It's a really nice art gallery! As with the others, I LOVE the detail you'd put on the furs and feathers, and your penciling is definitely great. It's clean and the rendering's pretty neat at the same time.
And I have to agree, the owl's awesome Would love to see another types of drawing though. And colors, seeing your colored picture would be great
Anyway, good luck!
