    Humble_Student's Sketchbook

Here's the deal, I'm a professional graphic designer looking to switch over to concept art illustration and fantasy art. Digitally I can draw just about anything...except people. This sketchbook will focus on my development in hand drawn art and growth in digital painting technique. This is the home of my online sketchbook. Thanks for stopping by. Please leave critiques and comments as all will help me grow in artistry.

Congrats on making the switch man...gotta do what your feel the most.

Your poses look good so far.
Another few thousand of those and you'll be off to a good start.
Are you taking classes? Not that you have to, you can learn a ton out of books alone.
    Keep at it.

10 Second poses per Medieve's suggestion

Medieve was saying that my 60 second poses and 30 second poses were trying to capture too much and thus lost out on the expressive value of the poses. He suggested that I throw down some 10 second poses to force me to loosen up... I think it worked... The first page and a half look pretty bad. As you can see I was thrown into turmoil thinking how the hell am I going to capture a full pose in 10 seconds??? What do you guys think?

I've been back on CA for the last few days and really starting to get more serious. I started a 365 day art project and it is really fueling my drive to work hard to build my skill. Here is my blog: Fantasy Art 365

In the mean time I'm going to be posting here again and hope to really catalog my progress.

Sketch for today, it's Amumu from League of legends, I used reference to see how he was constructed, but the pose is my own. I will be coloring this in photoshop and uploading later.

This is a simple graphic representation conveying a basic lighting scheme.

This is a Work in Progress (WIP) of the digital painting as of 1/8/2014. I corrected a lot of mistakes from the previous version and am quite happy with how it is starting to look. I was told that I should try to paint it with just values to begin with and work from there. Painting in values and painting in Photoshop is a difficult task for me and I hope that it my speed picks up over time.

This was my first real attempt at digital painting in Photoshop after 25 days of intense study on fundamentals.

This is the type of work I'm already known for, but I'll probably be doing a more painted version of this.
