I can't believe you haven't had more comments. This stuff is great!

The master class work came out really nice. Only critique is the over-detailing of the BG when the figure should retain all focus. Still, wish I had that kind of control over traditional media.

looking good, I really love how you handled that turtle! Really sweet suggested/implied areas.

You doing IMC again this year?

I sure am, hopefully I won't be as shy around the instructors. And you had a great demo at Illuxcon. Looking forward to seeing everyone again.

Is this a new photo of the dragon piece? I like the brighter colors in this one.

I look forward to seeing more.

Yeah, i think the problem with the other pic was I saved it as a PNG which had a terrible preview mode.

    Hey Aaron,

I really like the new dragon piece.
Sorry I wasn't able to comment on it earlier.
You've got a mix of REALLY good and some not so good stuff going on in it though.

The dragon itself is beautiful, wonderfully painted, wouldn't change a thing.
My problem lies with the angel.
Her silhouette is awkward, particularly the back leg.
I would consider fading it into the BG more.

It's also a real peeve of mine when I see characters holding spears near the tip.
The very purpose of a spear is that it is LONG, so to hold it so close to the tip seems a little silly.

I'll try to do a paintover for you in the next few days.
If you don't hear from me, drop me a line to remind me.

    And as Dave mentioned...
I think you handled the turtle really well.
The shell is implied so effortlessly.

I look forward to seeing you again this June!

    Thanks Dan,
I kinda feel the same way about the spear, but i had gone so far with it and made so many changes that I compromised the spear to get the tension at that spot in the painting. not the best excuse but i am open to suggestions.
And fading the leg is a good idea.

And again thanks for taking the time to have a look. June will be a blast.

Great stuff. I love traditional art, esp. oil. Great show of skill. The elephant is my favorite, lot of personality.

It all looks really good here.
Maybe with the dragon piece you could give her a sword
    or other shorter weapon instead?
I heard about the IMC last year, it sounded so good I registered for this year
so I geuss I'll meet you in June.

Your John Carter of Mars picture is quite recognizable as such, and very nicely done.

your oil paintings are full-bodied and have a deep impression on me--i like it and am really moved by the poor eyes of the yellow dog ,the brave and wise girl like Joan and the sleepy quiet angel.

    Hi Aaron,

I have been really enjoying watching your developement, through dA and here. The L5R cards are really hitting the spot. I love the hand resting on the hilt of the katana, a very subtlely created sense of power and confidence.
