Hey koto many thanks! Im abit stuck where to take the illustration feels like its missing something but then I dont want to over do it, the study was a test of my endurance! all wednesday and thursday in my room going at it but i am pleased.

I didnt prime alot of my works but I have done some quick 20 minute mouth studies priming the pages with just a white acrylic then using a light sand paper to roughen the surface and it works soo much better, some of my works would be alot better if I had done this from the beginning, but least I know now.

    booties

fun exercise, quick 1-2 minute watercolours, quite hard but fun!

Oh wow, I'm glad I decided to check your sketchbook out again!
I hope you're having fun in Australia! I look forward to seeing what art you've done while there
I love your life studies! You've really pulled them off considering they were done very fast AND in watercolour, you should definitely do more of them. I also like how you started to show areas of shadow and light with different colours, you should try to develop that more as it's very effective. The boots are great, too! I like how you've blocked out the shadows, you should try to do one in full tone if you get the chance, it would look great
The mouth studies... they are amazing. There's nothing else I can really say on those
    See you soon I hope!

Right so...ahem.. update? Yer why not. Sorry I took a while.
So what have I been up to in these years? well glad you asked.
I went to oz for 6 months (dead fun) then did the foundation course at Falmouth University, which while I loved being in fally the fine art course there was just another bog standard course.
By the time applications for uni were rearing their heads I was dead set on not doing a fine art course and instead look for more traditional schooling.
I found a few in London and settled on the Lavender hill studios which I hope to be attending in Jan. At the moment I am working as a barista to save up enough.
Anyway I have finished a few big pads , rough *shudder* newsprint and marker paper which after that sandpaper like newprint feels glorious.
Heres a a small selection (i.e. the best bits)
I have been doing alot of master studies especially glen vilppu videos- well worth the money!

I had a fine art thread but sheer laziness meant I never kept it up so Im posting my favourites from there to here.
These are from a small red journal I kept in oz

life drawing during my brief time at falmouth

A few from a marker pad and conte 1710B , self portrait- assume all the ones that look like this as sp because they probably will be.

I bought a medical skull to help me understand the head shape better, would reccomend it to anyone. Invest in a good copy though dont be tempted to skimp on cheap props.

    Sargent studies

Finally finished my moleskine from years ago,

-Too lazy to separate them, another skull study.

    Small master/ anatomy studies.

    Me and my lovely hands

    My hand and eye

Was in Amsterdam a few weeks ago and went to the Hermitage for a exhibition on the Russian Orthodox church, a few studies from that.
Do love the dam, and not just for the weed although that is very nice too.

Bound a new leather sketchbook, and here it is with a few studies of my hands and feet

A dude asleep on a train, although you probably figured that out.

and lastly some prints I did during falmouth. I abused the shit out that room

Well thas about it, probably will update more often- probably being the important word.

    Cheers
    Chris.

have been doing alot of bridgman studies, I dont tend to copy the images rather take the position with my hand and use the style to understand it- I find it more interesting than merely copying.

On a role with the whole updating thing. After work I went up to Woburn and did a few sketches, 30 seconds to 20minutes

This is definitely one of the most visually interesting sketchbooks I've seen on CA.
I like the way you switch up styles and mediums. I'm loving the moleskine pages as well. Can't wait to see more!

    Ink SP

I bought a set of letterpresses for no other reason than they looked nice, was playing around with them- gotta make it justifiable I suppose.

Went to the V & A did some studies, nice just to wonder around on my own.

These are two statues in the V&A, I went over the left one and made it abit shit

Another study plus obligatory self portrait

    about it really.

I seem a very vain person I know, but when you look this good gotta share the wealth. Started to use my brown paper sketchbook, the paper is rough as sandpaper and my favourite pencil doesnt work on it so I'll look around for better stuff

A whole lot of studies! That's real good, man!
Just remember to apply what you study too, you can loose a lot of the information if you don't. I find studies and personal work equally as important.

    Keep it up!

Wow you're keeping busy, especially with the life studies and experimenting across different mediums. I really like the last post too. As for your question in my sketchbook about universities, I studied game design at the School of Art in Norwich. Good luck starting the course in January man, you're certainly putting in the effort

Huge dumpage, I haven't updated because my scanner has been unplugged and 3 feet away. If that makes me lazy well, I blame drugs and violent video games.
Lavender hill is going good, who knew art school would involve actual work.
