makin' a Ske boo (Portfolios D:)

    Hello.

My name is Kim, as my user name creatively says. I'm in second year university in Memorial, but I'm not learning much, so I'm applying to NSCAD and Sheridan.

Sooooo- I'm working on my portfolio and posting some stuff here. It may not be strictly related to it, cause I want to update often, to keep myself drawing.

I'd love love love lots of critiques but now if they contain things like "Draw more from life","be more realistic", or "Work on anatomy." I'm already doing that as much as I can.

    Annn... now drawings

I'm scanning in more stuff now, so I'll post again.

I really like your illustrations, but I can't really give you critiques, since I started drawing a few months ago.

The second one, the redhead at night is very pretty. Something I didn't see 'till a second look is that the mark making in the ground of the background could maybe be tightened up a little. Small crit there. Again, small crit but I would say the neck of Zebra Girl is maybe a bit thin. Nice Vibe to your work, and nice skills, especially with the difficult WC's. I do like the blue elfish (mermaid?) woman, mostly the transition from skin to what I'm guessing are scales. ^.^ The anthro cat-zebra was a little hard for me to recognize at first that there was even an equine half. I suppose to help this (or for future reference) would be to define the chest of the zebra part. Right now it looks a bit like someone chopped off her legs attached horse front legs to her regular legs would go, as opposed to the waist leading down smoothly into the horse chest, which then is supported smoothly by the zebra legs. I suppose the other reason is that I couldn't see the zebra's ribcage, which should be more prominent at that angle.

Thank you Tala-Raven! I'm doing a whole bunch of centaurs lately but they never turn out looking like the two halves connect. I'm working on another one right now, so I'll try that out and post it tonight.

Bill (Nice name! How did you nab that one? You must have been here ages) I know D |> I love doing the clothing and hair and such but I get so bored when it comes to backgrounds. I know it's important. I'm going to work on it. Thank you, thou. I love wc's. -Checks out the link-

Attaching this one didn't work. This one has the same top - bottom problem, I think.

two wips and a quick self portrait in photoshop. My friends say it's pretty accurate.

your pencil work (and those biro sketches up the top) are really neat and I'm liking your character designs. I think your digital stuff needs a bit of definition, though, in a few of them (particularly when it comes to clothing and folds) it makes things hard to work out and they literally look a bit rough around the edges. The face of the girl with the lamp is nice and defined, but there are rounded bits to the folds in her clothes where it needs more shaping, if you see what I mean. The very first digital image of the horned girl is really crisp looking though, and I like the way the chick with the monocle is going.

and don't be afraid to mix it up a bit! draw fat people, thin people, old people, young people, white people, black people... Branch out and push yourself. latest stuff is dead good. good luck!

Wow. My head hurts and I hate trying to draw guys. I also drew a few children but I'm still working on that >.> Some of these are a bit old, but I just got my sketch book back.

Grrr, I worked on drawings all day and this is all I have to show. I completely ruined a good sketch with water colors. -___-

Thank you for your comments everyone!

Gutss: Clothing folds are something I'm having a bit of troble with. I was trying to get a taffeta sort of look but it failed pretty badly. Thank you for the advice. I tried it out on the ascot here.

I still don't feel that it looks like fabric. -___-

    Here's another water color too.

Another day with nothing but drawing and with very little results.

I really feel sick today. Really really really sick of drawing and everything. I don't want to keep going but I can't seem to stop. -___-

Another post. I'm starting to find it hard to update every day. I like this one alright. A speed paint. *___* I actually did one.

Alright. So my post a day thing fell apart, but here's what I've been working on, it's really hard but I'm happy with how it's turning out.

I bought a book of Japanese art (Comickers 2) and man those guys kick my bum : _ : like wow. I'm going to work really really really hard.
It won't attach properly, so here it is not attached
