Sketchup is an amazing application. Really. It helps out a lot, especially in the field of work I'm getting into.

It's easier than doing the 3D version of buildings in Auto-CAD, and it kinda feels like I'm ousing MSPaint, mostly because it feels easy (not that it actually is, especially if you want to do a really detailed work).

If you can, get your hands on Imagine FX 47 - As always, some excellent articles, including some Sketchup techniques on how this wonderful free program can be used for planning and composition.

This is a great idea, hope to chip in with any help needed, been using it since version 3. Worked with Solo on the Sketchucation site as a Mod until recently (have my own site with another ex-mod now) so plenty help available.

    Angry New sketchup forum

All the discussions are great. We are greatly benefited as we extensively use sketchup in all our projects (from 3D modeling to furniture design, landscape design etc.).

I request to all for starting a discussion on "how sketchup can be used in Film Industry".

Please contact us for unlimited free download of sketchup components.

since everyone is talking about this sketchup program do any of you know anything about Blender? I used to use it about 2 yrs ago (to be honest was just learning how to use it and it confounded me)and I needed help then. I'm also using it on a linux based comp. If anyone can give me some pointer's I'd be very happy for the help. thnx

    Denki,
I have worked with Blender but I can tell you Sketchup is a LOT easier to learn (hours as opposed to weeks). Blender is probably one of the more difficult interfaces to master. If you wish to invest in learning a modelling app, I strongly recommend Sketchup.

Does anyone here know where I can find a decent sketchup tutorial that I can work through to get me started? I downloaded it a little while ago and played around a bit but nothing too sophisticated.
