    Hey man, Keep at it.

Your refs are really nice ones, If you look at negatice space, the shapes the surrounding makes etc, it will help you to see distance and arrangement better. Look at the negative space or shape between the leg of the table and the woman's leg for example, your mind can flick between positive and negative space and it will later become a natural habit.. One you might have to break again later but it's a good starting block to get you going and to get better with the way you focus and concentrate in general.

There is a good book "Drawing on the left side of the brain" it has a silly way of even if you drew things half way and trash the book because if it's sillyness or you don't get it's point at the time, that the lessons in there incubates and eventually they become foundation work.

Drawing focussed contour, practice drawing perfect circles, squares, triangles without having to redo a stoke and being happy with achieving the volume, symetry etc you had in mind... Flat ones is OK

Then later you move onto more complex shapes like bodily contour, leg's calves, Silhouettes for now..

    Then later Cubes, Cylinders, spheres

    Then Perspective

But you shouldn't hurry that too much.. This should be OK for now.

You could split these into two subjects and alternate between them in your study times. "2d, controll and focus" and "Perspective"

for perspective for now it would be good to read up on some two point and one point perspective, do a couple the long way, drawing using a ruler untill you solidified what it's about then start doing the same freehand

By the time the other skills catch up you will be doing box and cone mannakins in perspective already and then you could start fleshing out and taking it further.

You have inspired me to drop my ego a bit and get back to simpler stuff and doing some focussed work myself, maybe some robotica. I have that ego belief that I am the shit with perspective but I think that should be a personal sign.

There is lots to learn but for now I think the most usefull tool for you would be to notice negative space.

jpdelteso: I know, sometimes It's really hard to see how to draw things in simpler shapes. And I did a few perspective drawing but I lost them.

zaorr: I tried doing some negative space drawing. Yeah, I'm not that good in achieving volume and I have a hard time understanding shading.

I am trying to do more with less drawing using less strokes per drawing. Even if I have to erase sometimes actually a lot of times.

i see you do the right excersises!
A favourite of mine is blind contours, this helps to get a better line.
Drawing the negative space of an object, with 1 line, so just dont life you pencil! untill the object you want to draw is complete. I got some in my sb if you dont know what i mean,, im not a star in explaining it

Anyway, just keep going and practice hard, progress is on the way!

Carlos SLim hand is very small. Remember the hand is 3/4 of the head ...
And calros slim looks kinda older on the drawing ..

    (M) Artist, Understood.

I'm still new at drawing. Especially at life drawing and drawing from photographs.

Judging by that last sketch you need some advice
When drawing from pics or life you should think of the negative space.
When you se the shape of the holes between the legs and arms and stuff youll see where the mistakes are.

and think of the angle of things... just look at the pic
ask me if you dont understand it

    Tim

hey, thanks for commenting on my sb
Sorry that my first expenation was a little hazy^^

Neggative space is basicly the shapes that form outside of the figure. often it's easyer to see the form if you try to think of it more like an object.
