The winter forest is beautiful. That and the jungle one really speak to me.

    Love everything.
I just think the man is a bit taller in forest piece (compare to the trees).

    Hey

I love your palettes in each piece. Really good use of colours. I don't like the portrait, but that's just a matter of taste, no offense Your environments are great, post some more

the 3rd one is ace! I love the little overhung area in the bottom right. It feels enticing.

    Sweet.
Very interesting and bold brush strokes. Love that style. The forest pic is wonderfully serene, but the city is just incredibly detailed. Both are fantastic pieces.

    Wow, thanks again everyone

This is really motivating - I'll try my best to keep this thread updated! I've been working on putting together a showreel, applying for new work and schools since I got back from the holidays. Stressful (but exciting) stuff!

And now I'm finally done. It's been a nice opportunity to take a step back and figure out what you want to do, both in terms of career and upcoming individual pieces - but now my painting nerve is itchy as hell, can't wait to get back into it

Nice to see you join conceptart.org, I don't understand why you didn't do it earlier to be honest.
I like the new matte painting, how long have you worked on it?
    You're going to school again?

The new matte painting (the city) took a while to complete, and it was spread out over two months or so. I basically only got to chip away at it one hour here, two hours there during november and december when I had the time. It went through a few iterations along the way too, which didn't exactly speed it up For the next one I'd really like to work on longer stretches at a time!

I'm primarily looking for employment within the fields of concept art & matte painting, but going back to school for a proper art education (plein-air painting, landscapes, oil, old masters - that kind of deal) has been my plan B for quite a while now, so that would definitely be an option too
