    illegal format-control-parameters attribute?

Trying to load brushes from Don Seegmiller, and I now get this message when painter launches (V8):

Error in "brush name.xml" line 1 column 4
    illegal format-control-parameters attribute

Are these brushes not compatible with V8? They are .xml files and should be, but something is not working right.

    Thanks.

    Hi,

Don's Book Brushes are predominantly in Painter X format, which means they will give you xml errors like the one you describe if you try and use them in earlier Painter versions, as they are not backward compatible.

I have converted them for Painter 8 and above, but unfortunately cannot send them to you without the author's permission.

Your best option would be to e-mail Don Seegmiller. I have given a link below (remember to put Art as the first word in the subject).

    Thanks for the update

Thanks for the info David. I have sent him an email. I'll keep checking the book's site also, since they may update the brush download.

i dont know about painter 8 - but in painter 9.5 you can still use the brushes but clicking ok on all the boxes and then go tru the brushes and in the brush selector options click on set default variant.

its time to knuckle down and really lick boot!
