I think you caught the proportions pretty well from what I can tell of jumping back and forth from your ref and what you have done here. I think the highlight on his back is just a little strong perhaps putting a slightly more range to the value there might help. Composition wise I might suggest adding some kind of vertical flow to the piece to make it more interesting. I might suggest like the walls of some ancient well or perhaps something flowing from his head like water, long hair, tentacles or what ever you can think of.

    Hopes that helps.

Imagination is not a total internal power but rather it is a reflection and multi-faceted projection of our experiences and knowledge. We take in information from the world around us and intuitively re-order it into something new. Something is not created from nothing but simply transformed from what was before.

Looks nice, but I recommend lightly filling in the parts of the body that we cant see. The photo looks... ok (not seeing the big deal about it), but for the painting you can really push it farther and make it pop. You also have a much stronger light source at play than in the photo, so you'd be dealing with more reflected light, more red speculars from the walls, and the body wouldn't be hidden in pitch black. It looks good so far, so try to really push it!

Its curious - is this image suppose to be "upright" if so you have some shading issues. Your shading doesn't seem to fit the light direction.

But if this image is suppose to lay down then the direction of the light source appears to fit but you may want to darken up some of those underneath spots.

    Hope this helps!

Chagan : thanks man I'll try to push it as u said there's a room for more.

Razorleaf : EXACTLY I believe the picture was originally taken as u showed in the second image. but I wanted it to be in the upright position, I think it's more interesting. so yeah I guess I need to fix the shading. BIG thanks to u u r nuts hehe.

Razor beat me to it, the image needs to sit on it's side because it just doesn't work upright. I love the pose and your execution, but it needs to sit on its side for people to be able to understand the image. Upright, it almost looks like some kind of oddball mutant creature, where from the side it is clearly a very contorted man.
