Overall it looks nice. The pose is pretty good and the face seem to have a kind of knightly personality.

What actually bothers me most is the background. If this is purely a character design, the background can very well be plain white or some other non-aggressive color. This red-black gradient both distracts the eye from the figure itself and hides most of his lower part in the dark. A lighter, plain background would have given a better silouhette and would allow the viewer to focus on the character.

Another thing you wanna check is cloth and folds, especially the sleeves. Take a look at some photos or wear a similar shirt yourself and see how the fabric behaves in different arm gestures.

I agree with Chate Noire about the background. One more thing- give him a shadow to ground him. It kind of looks like he's floating right now.

It is my mistake. I`ve should put that thread in WIP section. This work is still WIP and I`m actually working on background and details.
Sorry for that (If anyone is able to can feel free to move that tread to WIP`s)

Thanks for advices, I`will update this work soon.

And one more question. About proportions - doesn`t he looks low growth? (as an hero)
I`m looking on him for too long so I ask for your impression.

So, thanks again, goin' back to work

I could be nuts, but his elbows look a lil high(mine come to the bottom of my ribcage).

Ok a few comments (some are personal opinions )

He's a bit short for me (6.75 - 7 heads high) I'd make the head slightly smaller and lengthen the legs a tad.
You need to reference the boots, his feet let this down a bit.

You seem to have given him a hand an a half sword (or bastard sword) by the size of the grip and quillions but you made it really short? (where's the point gone?) It should be around 3.75 - 4 feet long. Standard 1 handed sword or Knightly swords where around 3ft long.
If the sword is that short he'd more likely have his hand resting on the pommel (that is a really uncomfortable pose - try it!)

Anyway, just personal opinions hope they made you think.

I hope he looks a little taller now.
I`m not sure how long a hand and a half sword should be, but I think that this one I`ve painted is longer than one hand sword... Maybe I`ll fix it.
I`ve made changes to proportions and background. But I`ve quit the idea of painting whole illustration in background. With that pose of character it`s easy to overtalk it, or made pathetic. So, I`ll keep it as simple character presenting image and I`m getting started with next, better composed work

    Thank you all for watching!
