You have a great graphic style, and even though you mainly like to focus on that you supplement that style with traditional study and reference, which is great. Keep up the good work.

Since I've posted the story everywhere else with this picture, I might as well post it here:When I was in high school, I spent a lot of late nights playing around on the family computer. On one particular night, I kept hearing a noise coming from outside on the front porch. I ignored it for a while until my curiosity got the better of me. When I opened the door I looked over to my left to see my cat lying contently on a bench. I was puzzled by how she could be making so much noise but I still took the opportunity to scold her (because cats understand everything you say). As I went to close the door, I looked over to my right and saw a possum on the grill staring up at me. This is probably the only time in my life where closing a door as quickly as I can will make a problem go away.

Done with pencil, ink and watercolor. Mostly drawn with my less dominant hand.

May I ask you something? Could it be that you like Hyenas really much?

And then - I like your works.

Yes, I do in fact love hyenas. I find them to be great subjects to stylize.

The stylized animal group I'm a member of on DA is doing sharks for this month. I thought I would have an easy time with this one, especially considering the species I chose. Unfortunately, despite the numerous thumbnails and studies I did, I never could manage to pin down something I was pleased with. Eventually, (and I hate to admit to this) I decided to bite the bullet and knock something out in order to, hopefully, move on to a different species and a better image.

My second attempt at painting a shark, which I feel came out much better than the first. I feel I tried too hard to make the goblin shark picture into something it didn't want to be. I relaxed a lot with this one and let it take its course.

This particular species is the Greenland Shark/Sleeper shark. As I understand it, it's the only Arctic shark. I've known about them for a while and find them really interesting. They look so derpy with their blind eyes, toothless looking smiles, and big nostrils! I also find parasites kind of an interesting/gross topic and this shark tends to attract a type of parasite that enjoys hanging out on eyeballs. The shark apparently doesn't mind much since it tends to stick to dark waters. It is speculated that the parasite might actually help attract food for the shark.

Itís been a while since Iíve done any figure drawing. Iím so rusty! This model was fantastic. I only wish I could have gotten some decent drawings out of the session. This was the last one for the night. I really hope he comes back.
