Sweet lines. way to dodge a bullet. Although I think the bullet is kinda hard to see. If you do a painting out of it maybe move the bullet even further forvard. Awesome updates and as I said, love the lines!

    Always a pleasure!

I like the last one too, yes, it feels more dynamic
But i think the flowy hair could have bin better, especially near the forehead..the curved upwards part..
In the first one i really like the values and the kitty idea, heh
But i think the angle of the nose and all his features are a bit off considering his head angle: his right cheek and that part there gave me that impression
And in the second one..well..you can do better, i know you can; i'll leave it at taht and just add..that perspective and anatomy-proportion part..

    Take care Matt~

Hey Kiwi kid! Thanks for checkin' my sketchbook - you're improved loads since I last looked in your sketchbook before I took an extended break, good to see you're consistently nailing it and powering up. Latest sketches look sick, I need to learn how to use pencils like that!!

My quota time is up XD I was trying to check out some of your art at work since it's decently quiet on the holiday ( knock on wood ). Anyways I loved your design and placement on the top hat guy with the rabbit. Also your crosshatching is awe inspiring with your landscapes. For some reason I have a hard time seeing the 'personality' of the landscape. QUESTION: Do you like landscape or people more? What did you start drawing first? Any tips on landscape drawing?
Also gotta say nice self portraits. Is it just practice? I never like to draw myself, because I don't see myself as myself. How crazy huh?
Anyways your art is really great! I'm always happy that you share it and take the time to talk to everyone too!! Oh I saw you got into animation school?? CONGRATS!

Nice new works, bra. The desktop still life is good.
Clever idea of mounting a mirror on the monitor, I gotta try that one.

Before I forget again, there's gonna be a sketchmeet next weekend, we'll be watching Where the Wild Things are!
Hope you can make it, I'll have more details next week.

    Great style in those pencils.
I really like the shading you use describing the facial planes and so on. I do think the last one looks a bit weird though. The facial features look a tad off, and the outline doesn't really work for me.

    Cheers

Bah, bummer you can't come to the sketchmeet. There should be more coming up during the Christmas holidays though.

Cool sketches. The house on a cliff one is nice.

Oh yeah, and SAI Painter is like a souped up version of open canvas. I like it because the brushes are much smoother than PS, well suited for sketching.
The brushes also have blending/smearing capability, which PS lacks. I used to exclusively use it for painting, because I couldn't do it with PS, lol.

Ahaha I really like how your self portrait looks, now that you gave it some paint

The 2nd and 3rd sheet from your mindless doodles really captured my eyes. The flow and the values.
Nothing to say more than i am glad you'll be finishing your exams too, and i hope you shall have a safe trip!

Hey just dropping by to say nice improvements from page one till now. You're study of humans and anatomy in def paying off, keep it up. I know its a generic reply but I really do love seeing people progress like this.

To have so many posts in such a short time since the start of this book really shows dedication, which i believe to be the most important key factor to success and improvement in art.

In my humble opinion, one thing I do think you could benefit from would be a bit of studying design and design language, I.E. Motifs, shape placement and language etc. I know this isnt something you draw often, but it can help immensly with architechture and industrial design.

I know i could benefit from a few things you do too! All right ive gone on longer then i wanted to now >.<

    keep at it man!

but I love the mindless doodles. they have a wicked outpouring of creativity in them. doodles are my lifeblood! (if I can't do anything I scriblle on paper mindlessly for a few minutes. FEELS GOOD MAN)

I like the mind bullet man two posts up. those lines really make it pop! and the slap of paint on your self portrait looks really gritty and NICE.

you better believe I am patenting my art vacuum

What an overwhelming lesson to all artists! Be not afraid of absurdity; do not shrink from the fantastic. Within a dilemma, choose the most unheard-of, the most dangerous, solution. Be brave, be brave! - Isak Dinesen
