Qymaen jai Sheelal - General Grievous - STAR WARS - update

Taking a break from dragons! I wanted to do a unique Star Wars character, so I thought I would try to find any ref for General Grievous (my favorite prequel character) before he was "modified".
(Now, I'm sure this is old news for Star Wars fans so forgive my discovery process.) I remember seeing pics of the action figure a while ago and not being too impressed, but couldn't remember it well.

    First I found this:

Which is very cool, but I wanted to see under the mask.

    After seeing this pic:

I remember why I didn't care for it too much. Still, I wanted to try and do my own version that was close to the ref I found.

Anyway, here is where I am at. He's a bit wonky right now and missing his hair, etc., but I thought I'd post some pics for some feedback.

    Thanks!

    Hey Grant,

you certainly know how to make a comeback don't you? It's always great to see new work from you mate, it looks like a lot of thought has gone into it (as always) General Grievious is a cool character and it's very interesting to see your take on how he looked before he changed, and I much prefer your version definately than that 'thingy!' I think the concept artist in you, the knowledge of anatomy, an amazing eye for detail and of course natural skill makes this and your other sculpts so perfect.

Well done bro! Thanks for sharing!

Glad ya'll like him so far. He's about 7" tall, minus the stand...

Excellent! I don't really know what else to say, but he does have character and I think it's an ideal likeness before he was turned into a cyborg.

Hey Grant, How yer doin? Yer know, what I love about your sculpts is that they have a certain style that makes your sculpts stand out. I can't tell exactly what it is. If you didn't have your name attached to the sculpts, I'd still be able to tell that it was you who did it, like: 'Ah, that's Grant's!!' I particularly like the way you've made the bone structure which you can see clearly under his skin.. amazing work brother!

And by the way, I took a look at your sculpture gallery.. woah dude.. I never realised you done that many sculpts! They're seriously bad ass. I gotta dress up as a ninja sometime and steal the smaug sculpt one day.

    Heh.
