I feel you need to look to study animal anatomy, you really need to focus on the structure more than the simply the muscles of existing animals. Also I feel you need to really be patient and slow down when refining. This is still in its a rough state. The entire creature doesn't necessarily need to be refined, but the focus area you decide upon needs more refinement. Maybe the area around the eye. What also would make this concept stronger would be defining the shadow underneath the creature. Good start, keep pushing yourself.

The part that you cropped out for the thumbnail is sweet!

the rest of the creature design and the environment aren't as well thought out. the pose is a little bland. Darktwin's feedback seems like good advice.

    That eyeball is very nice!

It is an interesting idea, but it doesn't really feel like a squid.... more like a bug. It doesn't really share squid's proportions and it feels like it has bones (like the knee joint in the back leg)

Cool idea. A challenging creature to transfer to land. He should be peeing ink, then ill be sold.
Seriously though Cool idea. I may do a few myself for the challenge.

Ok, i guess i did rush to finnish it, so yeah i went back to it 2day and I've worked on it some more, thanks very much for your help guys, i don't think i can really add more detail to the creature itself as I've got too many layers over the top of it, so as for that this piece is done. Still any pointers which i should follow through to my next peaces i will be very grateful of =]

and may i add, it does have bones, it has evolved to be out of the water =P

    Land Squid

The Land Squid: The giant squid, once known for its dominance in the sea. But in a world, were the seas are no more, sea life alike has begun to adapt and walk out of the small ponds and lakes which were once vast seas. This squid, now known as the Land Squid is forced to survive in our lands, it feeds by running its feeder tentacles across the dry earth picking up small animals. At birth the Land Squid has huge tentacles which reach down to the ground, but after feeding for so long they often shrink down to the size seen above.

The head is the wrong position looks like its taking up alot of the animals body like as though its joined to the back. Better anatomy is needed

animal needs to fit its surroundings and be able to live . do more study on animals and how they adapt to their surroundings so that you can give more meaning to your character. give him sum: defense , abilities, enimies and sum better food.
