painter.again longer than intended maybe.it was a bit difficult to do something concrete.gotta practice lightning.
looking forward to the other entries.
I happen to like the description of the road to hell in the book "Good Omens." It goes...
And the road to hell is not paved with good intentions as most people say. Instead its paved with the frozen bodies of door to door salesmen, which the younger demons go skating on every now and then.
"As iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another. Unfortunately the resulting sparks set fire to any nearby artworks."
Here is my version of the hell's gate.
A quick one made in 2 hours with Photoshop
heres mine.. (duh)
btw where you type the url for the image the example saus xxx where the image should be, is that a good omen?
oh, man. i think rodin already did this best.

and awesome job, tharmine.
Tharmine - I would love to know how you did the tile. The whole piece has great color too! Reminds me of Silent Hill 2.
Here's a quicky while I was waiting for eggrolls. Yum.

this topic reminded me of some books by jack l. chalker i read when i was a teenager ("flux and anchor"). this is how i saw the gates to hell described in those books.
oDD: love the amount of detail you manage to convey with very few means. gooDD stuff!
all the best
relation is the key -
relation and ability to understand
that all is not known to you
Havent got the time to add a decent background. Based on a chateau in France

Great ideas everybody as usual.
tharmine: I'm almost expecting Ewan McGregor to come out from that at any moment.
oDD: damn nice man!
didn't realize the door was so small until I scaned it.
All God does is watch us and kill us when we get boring. We must never, ever be boring.
Another....I need to work on my detail, any advice?
Rushed for time, be back to comment on all the great work later if I can...

Ignore this post. I hit reply before i was finnished. The one below this is the one i ment to send.
the gates of hell are not a 1 way street. sin, hate, war and spilled blood come out of it.
(2 am. painting like a mindless chimp, id be glad to refine it some more. not now. ive been painting instead of drawing. feels great)
Excellent work all.
Markers and ballpoints
A good excuse as any to do a glowing volcano.
Vimmzy: I was going to do something similar, but then I saw yours and thought you pretty much nailed It.
The idea I had was a hell gate that moved regularly and replaced a ordinary doorway anywhere in the world, mimicking It perfectly.
Tharmine: That's how I imagine a gate to hell. Cramped, smelly and always open.
