Hey CA.... I'm Kevin, im 19 and currently studying art history in a joint program between the University of Toronto and Sheridan college. I've been raised off people's work from this lovely website and I'm hoping to some day have a job in the art field.
Here's a mix of new and old work i have lying around...any constructive comments are welcome!
The life drawings are between 30sec and 1 min poses
Here's a few more drawings...both are from about a year ago
Nice start!, I like the loose style of your darwing, but try and focus more on your line quality by following forms. Also watch the size of your art posts, when theyre too large it becomes difficult to view them on a smaller monitor.
Other than that, nice stuff, and just keep going.
my sketchbook http://www.conceptart.org/forums/sho...d.php?t=128243
i dug these outta my closet
the room drawing and the hand reaching for the door handle were part of my animation portfolio when applying for Sheridan's animation program...and the painting was for my painting class, done from life ...it took at least 6 or 7 hours and its 10 x 12 with acrylics (its a really crappy scan)...oh and i forget to mention that the portrait painting in the first post is 14 x 12 and done with acrylics as well
Hey brentos8 ...thanks for being my first reply! ...and ya I've been resizing everything, its just hard to judge their display size with how their shown on photoshop...anyway next time I'm in life drawing ill keep your comment in mind!
one last post for today...and quick marker render i did last spring
mannn, I really like your coloured stuff. the shading is looking cool (especially the reflection in that flagon up there). and the lifedrawing looks excellent! practice your lines, practice making things look good and drawdrawdraw
What an overwhelming lesson to all artists! Be not afraid of absurdity; do not shrink from the fantastic. Within a dilemma, choose the most unheard-of, the most dangerous, solution. Be brave, be brave! - Isak Dinesen
heres a line drawing of a cowboy...i referenced someones drawing on CA but i cant remember who
This is my first time using photoshop to colour a piece so im a little rusty...i've been watching a bunch of tutorials on youtube but if anyone can offer a little advice it would be great...its painted with a mouse, but hopefully ill be getting a wacom tablet for christmas
here's some quick drawings for today
the cowboy looks a little like chuck norris.. kind of like a caricature.
& i'm jealous of your marker rendering skillz.
(post your self-portraiiiit)
Were you accepted into Sheridan's Animation Program when you applied?
Bloofiya:..sadly i wasn't accepted..i was really close though, my portfolio marks weren't too bad, but the competition was really tough.
here's a page of random stuff i've copy and pasted outta my sketch book, the pic of the guy smoking was referenced for a previous drawing i found on CA, the other head study was done from a photo..i dont really like any of them haha...ill probably be posting a master copy of the old woman found in Venus, Cupid, Folly, and Time by Bronzino pretty soon
heres some more
hmm...here's my not so great Bronzino copy..it turned out to be a lot harder than it looked...a lot of my value relations are off ...and the nose of the old woman is bent in the painting but it just looks off in my drawing
Really like your work. You draw the lines very well. Your rough work has alot of gesture and I like that. I mean the imagination you make with your characters is great, the shape and form. Very cartoonish, and I like it.. it's tough to make your own style.. (I myself am in this situation) and I can see that you do have that certain stye to your drawings.
keep it up. Looking forward to seeing more of your stuff.
thanks Shindragon!i love the encouragement!
i got a wacom intous of christmas... im still getting used to using it but so far its feeling really natural to use and im been playing around in photoshop with brush setting to see what i like.
anyway here's another old drawing from last year that i found and touched up a bit in photoshop.
heres a few cartoony characters...the cat wasn't designed by me, it was a stock character that all the students applying to animation had to draw for their portofolio.
here's a coloured version of a drawing I had posted before
here's a few life drawings...right now i'm an assisting at my old highschool teaching life drawing so i had to brush up a little bit
here's a few cartoony head study's i did while looking at my friends blog: http://noamsussman.blogspot.com..he's got some crazy shit on there...i kinda gave up colouring the old man..
heres a repainted verison of that sketch i posted earlier...i tired to work more with opaque colours this time and i think it worked out pretty well
Really digging the colors in last few images, I think in the more opaque one you lost some of the blues and greens in the cheek and eye. They both look great but I'm quite partial to the first because of that.
It's all looking really good keep updating.
