I like it, but kind of feel the faded outer edge detracts from the drama a bit, reminds me of a christmas card

I'm with Dan. Really like the scale and feel. The white edges musta been the publisher's idea, right?

Happy New Years from the folks getting devoured.

I think its pretty cool. The water and kraken are both convincing. I do agree about the white edges, but if its going into a book, as the above information implies, that can be easily overlooked. I do with the ship's mast was a little more pronounced, but thats okay.

I think a more pronounced mast would look great, but it really is great as is

The Perspective needs to be way more exaggerated for the viewer to get a sense of both size or peril. The boat is being wrenched by this HUGE sea creature yet the boat is empty and upright? Note even rocked? It's almost like the squid is trying to be careful not to break anything. There's a light on in the back but it doesn't look nighttime enough to warrant the light. Its executed well as far as the drawing and painting is concerned but it doesn't pull me into the image. Maybe tilt the horizon, slightly wormseye the boat, add a few people maybe on and off the boat, and add more variations in saturation. But it's a good piece tho and the Kraken is painted very well. There's just some room for improvements. Sorry if I come off to harsh.
