Now this update I can really sink my teeth into. He seems a bit too sunken into his saddle, though. Still, I'm likin' the colour scheme you got going for it.

hi~~~ I come to check out your sketch book and man~~~you're totally awesome! I always have greatest respect to people who still do traditional medium, like oil and stuff. I used to but not anymore... No wonder you have that nice painterly style~~~ I just totally love your style! you don't mind I end up doing something similar, right? You know I have this thing, when I saw something i really like, I try to mimic the style and see how I like it~ and I almost always end up learning something new! And you just become my next target~~~

what program you use? photoshop or painter?

Nice wip on the rider so far. It feels like he's going to fall into the foreground, off the horse, a little bit... it's a tough pose.

    Nicely started, though. Great idea.

    Tripage - Hi man!
Thanks a lot! Any help regarding photoshop is very welcome! Very useful by the way. Thanks.

Enydimon - Hahahahah totally agree! But thank you anyway.

fluorine - Hello again milady! I'm not doing any traditional media stuff lately, it is very annoying because there is no room for errors and it is harder to try new things.
I usually use Photoshop, but I'm thinking about trying Corel Painter for a change. Do you use it?

KonnA - Oh! You're welcome. Your sketchbook is great! Thanks for checking out my stuff as well.

p sage - Dude, you are a role model. I'll try to do my best to practice as hard as you do.

Quick practice. Speed painting, around 3h, during a quick break I had.
I didn't like so much anyway.

I think it's interesting. It has potential, but if you're not feeling it then you're not feeling it.

BTW, Corel Painter is worth checking out if you're interested. I find having another program to experiment really breaks the mundane and shakes things up a bit every once and a while. And it's always cool to learn another art program.

    Enydimon - Hello again!
I really appreciate the fact that you liked this one. Maybe I'll give a chance to this image in the future.
Hey, thanks for the recommendation. I'll try Corel Painter these days.
And I totally agree with you, it's always cool to learn another art programs.
    Cheers bro.

    Todays practice.
Actually, this one was really hard to do.
This is the first time I paint a cityscape by the way.
I can't remember from where I found the picture I used as reference, but I think it is Budapest.
I know there are many perspective errors but I was about to get crazy with this painting. So I decided to let it go.

    hey hellfire :-)

realy cool work in here. it´s interesting that the facial expressions of your characters are very strong.
sometimes the armor or other objects around the characters are weaker then the faces.

if you wanna do a knight maybe try to do some armor and plate studies and let
these studies influence your pictures... not too much... just a bit ;-)

    still a great sketchbook!

Cool speedpaint of the robotic/cyber warrior and futuristic tank. That's pretty killer.

Girl at window is nice, too. Maybe try some more subtle tones around the eyes. There's a lot of contrast there that looks a bit like heavy eyeliner. (Maybe she likes the eyeliner... lol)

    Good pic though.

Kristo Novo - Hey!!!!!! Whats up my friend!
I really appreciate your comment. I never thought my facial expressions were good. So your compliment is awesome.
I totally agree about your comment regarding my armor design. I was mostly concerned on how to make a good piece technically, not so much creatively.
    My bad. Good advice.

Mischeviouslittleelf - Thanks a lot my friend!
Quite a hard job, but I kinda liked as well! Thanks!

    p sage - Sup bro?!
Thanks for the killer comment. Cool one.

Yeah, you are right, looks like she is using pretty heavy eyeliner, which was definitely not my intention. Amazing how you miss obvious things after looking for the same image for a long time.
    Thanks anyway.

Just a drawing from Charles Bargue Book.

OmertA - Thank you a lot man! I really appreciate that.

I posted this piece to the last character of the week (chow 182).

Although, due to the massive amount of entries, my work wasn't selected. They said because of the quality.

    This sucks!!!
Not because I disagree, but because I couldn't agree more!
I'm 28 years old. Most of my idols here are much better AND, also, much younger.
    I'm not whining!
I already studied laws, filmmaking and graphic design. Besides I only decided to become a illustrator, seriously, one year ago.
Although I must confess I should be practicing much much more.
After seeing some guys like Jana, AlgenPfleger, D@niel and lots of others I realized how seriously I should practice if I want to achieve their level.
I don't want to be like many others that are just "okay", I wanna be as good as the incredible guys are.
That's why I'll change the way I'm dealing with my work from now on.
Probably no one is going to read that, and honestly I don't even fully know why I'm writing this is with my limited english.
I think I just wanted to make a statement to myself.
    Something more official.
I'll be as good as I want, a fucking good artist with some remarkable skills.
    No more excuses!
Like Rudyard Kipling once said: "We have forty million reasons for failure, but not a single excuse".
And no more fucking laziness. P sage is right, there is no such thing as enough practice. There is always room for more.
I'll stop posting for a while. I'll only post again when I'll be able to do something that is good enough for my new standards. I can't see any point on flooding this forum with crap art I have been doing so far.
For now I wish you guys merry Christmas and happy new year!
    Have fun!

Hey dude, don't worry about the small rants. I love to hear what the artist is going through.

Right now, as hard as it is, forget about your age and just work your butt off!

I painted this for my grandpa. He is very catholic, and since his birthday is in February I thought he would like.

By the way, I don't like to talk about religion, right?

I think for the knight, the shoulders look flat. This is because the shadow falls right about at half. If you put the core (darkest part) of the shadow on 1/3rd, it would look round.

The Jesus looks pretty good. You need more shadow on the back of the left hand (on our right)... a little darker value than the top of the forearm.

    Thinking connects desire with creation.

p sage - hey! Welcome back my friend!
I agree with you comments. I'll try to fix them.
I printed this Jesus. It looked really dark in the face. Another major problem.
    Anyway...

    Some sith lord.
    Another "daily practice".
I think I'll stop doing this kind of stuff because I really have to finish some real illustrations!!!

There's some pretty cool stuff in here! The last painting looks very nicely rendered. There something about your paintings though that bothers me. And I think it's about the edges. Mabye try to give them a more painterly look. I also think that you use a lot of violet in your shadows. Some colour studies from life really help to get more realistic looking colours. At least every single one I do helps me a lot.
    Keep up the good work!
