Its' free and it takes less than 10 seconds!
good studies i know this is sooooo hard!!
i think this is the hardest thing to do "self portret studies"
but you will learn alot from it and its verry important!!!
always look in a mirror!! draw from life don't use pictures
its good to use pictures when u need some reference
when u have some amazing idea, but when u draw yourself
dont use pictures, but a mirror!
try to have sharp pencils! it works for me you
can make better and thin lines then.
use different sorts of pencils! use light one's in the beginning
then darker ones on top of them!
try to focus, try to take your time for your lines
i know its very hard i got troubles with it to, but never give up on it!!
hope this helps a bit
`ej - Hey! Thank you so much for visiting my thread. Yep, i understand that drawing from a mirror is so much harder than copying. I do use mirrors now. I suck at rendering/hatching so it's really a pain. I'm hoping to get better though. For using different pencils, i haven't actually tried that, but i will in the future. Time is always not on my side but i won't give up!
You've helped alot!
Oh hey, page 2!This is probably the fastest one i did so far. After almost one week of not working, i have a whole stack of updates and reports to do...this is all i can manage.
Okay, this one was a sob story. I was trying to put more effort into painting, and i was 60% done...it was starting to look good. Hit control+S and...photoshop hung. *MEGA SOBS* Was back to 10% again and i got pissed, so it turned out like this. What luck i have.
I hope tomorrow's SP will be a little better.
Okay, i am starting to miss all the life-drawing classes back in school. Tried to sketch this the life-drawing style, holding the pen a different way. Unfortunately erm, it turned out quite bad. I don't think i'll ever get used to the 'use your elbow too' way of drawing. I cut my fringe by the way.
Good to see that your working hard, i definitely see improvement from your first post! Try spending more time on each SP though and keep an extra eye on the proportions. Keep it up!
Imaginary - Thanks for dropping by and the critiques and encouragement!
Man, i'm need spending more time on my SPs. On leave but i still need to do work at home. @_@
Painter has so many stuff going on that i don't know yet. I used the Van Gogh brush for this one.
hi senior xD found u on fusion 2008
a tip when ur using digital is to keep flipping horizontal, u will see lots n lots of mistakes xD a horror show
notti - Hehe, i'm amazed that you found me on that website, it's so hard to navigate cause it's so random, ain't it? Thanks for popping by and the critique!
Hmm, i think i really need to spend more time for this. :/
Oh, and you probably have noticed already that i can't draw noses FOR NUTS. @_@
yeah. i found that fishing thing kind of stupid because its so hard to find the person again if u want to search for him/her again D:
about the nose, i think doing portraits in traditional will help more than painting currently.. thats what ive been doing, doing lots of traditional, and a painting once in a blue moon..
and yeah spend more time on ur portrait cause rushing a portrait is kind of meaningless as u dont have enough time to anaylse and understand the subject which is ur face xD
notti - Yep, that website was just bad. I understand where you are going about drawing traditionally but i don't have a scanner to scan my pencils right now, when i'm back at work i'll do so.
Someone's been watching too much Avatar. It's been almost 4 years since i did anything anime so it was fun. heheh. I make a bad-looking airbender by the way.
if u ask me then i say that u have to work traditional first
when u got everything under control then go digital
or do both but i think traditional is a better way to learn things
try some charcaol or ink and paint
try to focus dont rush
keep it up this is just how i think
just sharing my thoughts hope its helpfull..
Hi, hope i dont sound mean but... doing these portraits is for yourself.. for yourself to learn.. It isn't doing it just for the sake of doing it and showing us what you have done.. You must think what have you learnt in every portrait u do everyday.
From what ive see in that sentence.. i think thats what i think ur intending >_>
and again... i agree with ej that doing traditionally is a better and faster way to learn things.
Very nice self portraits.
I think my favourite is this one http://conceptart.org/forums/attachm...1&d=1229314656. What I like about it is rawness and very organic feel. Looks also very comfident even though your face expression says something opposite .
Keep going. It's getting better.
Hey, i have comments!
ej' - halluu back! Any comment will be helpful to me. I understand where you are coming at this, cause my bf (zalxemptyx) bugs me to use traditional mediums more too. I'm hell bad at drawing in the first place.
just so you know, i do draw traditionally, studies and all but i didn't upload it.
notti - don't worry dude, i understand that you are here to help me get better so nothing sounds mean. like i said to ej' i do pick up my pencils and draw. i'm really hoping to get better at both though so i won't lose out either way .
It's a funny thing that i started doing this now, cause when i was in year one Ms Gail (our lecturer) had her exhibition of her self-portraits that she does everyday and encouraged me to do so. Man, how i miss school.
Farvus - THANK YOU FOR DROPPING BY! It's a big boost for me to hear you say that. I kinda like that one too.
Today's self-porty. The reason it looks like i'm smiling and it's bright yellow cause today will be the last day that i am 19. I'm turning 2 decades old tomorrow! So i decided to take a picture of myself. THE LAST DAY OF BEING A 19-YEAR-OLD.
