    Photoshop Colouring Tutorial

    Hola, All!

I'm sort of new here, but I wanted to pass on this link to a bit of a tutorial I've put together! If, like me, you're a concept artist having to turn out coloured character concepts, the technique is one that'll make life easier. If you're new to Photoshop, I'm really interested to hear if the tutorial's beneficial and easy to follow. Or, if you're a Photoshop Guru already, I'd love to hear your thoughts, too!

Here's the image I use throughout the Tut -- she was sort of inspired by a bit of business I saw on some Inter-net site saying how Mod fashion was coming back, big time...

Let me know what you think!

    Cheers,

    nice.

i didn't know you could hide your selection with ctrl+h. also, i didn't know that you could do coloured lines by simply creating a group of two layers - something which caused me some trouble a while back, actually - so thanks a bunch for those tricks. they'll come in handy.

all in all, a good tutorial covering a lot of different aspects of colouring, from scan to finishing touches.

    all the best.

    Question

I just started tinkering with Photoshop. I can't get the hang of coloring with it. Do you scan it after you've colored some of it, or leave it black & white? Is the tutorial in the program?

Interesting technique. I think I'll try the way you do it just for the hell of it. I don't work with masks enough :emb:

Thanks, All, for the comments. I'm really glad to hear the tutorial's coming in handy! I'd love to see the work that gets done using it!

PLAF - Ctrl-H is, indeed, awesome. Great for quick masking.

DADDYSTYX - The tutorials are located mere clicks away from that link above, and are step-by-step, follow-along-as-you-please style. Kind of like Painting with Bob Ross. And all the colouring is done strictly in Photoshop. Experimentation is quick and easy using the Solid Colour layer. (Gah - I sound like an infomercial).

    Cheers!

Oops. I had a measly one-gig monthly transfer limit, which is easily maxed out if you post large images on message boards.
As of December 1st, though, it's back up and will be for a while. I am looking into upgrading my service -- anyone have any recommendations?

    Cheers!

I'm not trying to be sarcastic or anything, but it seems like alot of steps. Can someone tell me why you don't just mask off the white areas (of a line drawing) and color/render them?
    I really want to know.

    Unhappy

Traffic's been too high to see this, which is a shame because it sounded interesting...
