Vertical - Thank you, happy new year to you too! Good idea, I tend to keep expressions to a minimum, I'll have to do that someday soon.

Nyoron - Thanks! Happy new year. I think I could do with more from observation actually, especially from life.

    Really nice painting style
I was just wondering did you learn a specific blending technique for the portraits in post #239?
I see a lot of good artist that have a similar technique, I was just wondering if there is any certain books that explain how to hatch like that, they really seem to help give that 3D impression.
    Great work anyway.

I don't know how I feel about this one at the moment..it's very colorful.

BenjaminJL92 - Thank you very much. I answered your question in your thread, but here's a better explanation I found http://drawthefigure.blogspot.com/20...of-hannah.html

Nyoron - The muscles were really challenging, I don't think I'll be remembering them all anytime soon, but I'm working on it!

NickyBeats - Thank you! I'm glad you like them!

Your portraits look great. Nice play of edges and values. And the detail you put into your muscle studies is motivating. Something I should try.

Vertical suggested drawing profile views, I found this one while going through my sketch-pile. Slapped some textures on it.
I draw side views quite a lot actually, now I need to try some exaggerated expressions.

    Name: 070112_characterconcept_texture2sm.jpg
Views: 770
Size: 327.4 KB

Drew this one in the weekend to see if I remembered anything I studied in the week. Added texture here as well.
It reminds me of the time I used to draw full figures more often.. If the hips seem too big, it's the pants. -_-
I Will do more of these!

tylerbsr7 - That is unexpected, but it's great to hear.

vatteh - Thank you. I really wanted to draw the muscles as detailed as possible, but after a while I got sloppy. It's a lot of work, but you should try it indeed.

Suprore - Thanks! I'm glad you like it.

bish0p2004 - Thanks man. The underdrawing is made with H and 2B pencil. I inked it with black and red pen, then I went over it with red and white chalk.
The pencil are from the Lyra Rembrandt Art Specials Set, you can see the ones I used here http://attachments.conceptart.org/fo...mentid=1389814.
The red chalk is more of a brown, that's why I mixed it with the red ink, and the blue comes from mixing white chalk with black ink.

Izene - Thank you very much!

Zesiul - Thank you, it was a lot of work so that's good to hear.

And not to post without showing anything, here is a sketch.

Love that last sketch - the face has a lot of personality and there's a lot of character in the design as well. For a crit, the feet feel like they're the weakest point, in this sketch and the one in post #250. They're not bad, but they don't have quite the same sense of volume and form as the rest of the figure.

Still trying to figure out the facial features for this particular character.

dierat - Thank you very much for your comment and crit. I agree what you said about the feet, I wasn't sure what shoes to draw so I just put a silhouette, I'll work on that!

Now for a little break, my hand is killing me.

Ooh, that character concept is looking really nice. My only crit at the moment is that maybe she is slightly off balance. I could be wrong... maybe try rotating her slightly anti-clockwise and see what you think.

    I love her hair.

I had started another life study a couple of days ago, but it crashed and I hadn't saved in awhile.
I'll have to remember to save more often!

I've been pretty lazy this week.. I'll have to get more intense next week!
