    Alshak Sketchbook :D

    Hi

at first i should say if you look for something interesting, you are in the wrong place!
but if you are looking for something to laugh and love yourself and thanks god for what you are take a look at here

about myself: was a drawer at very young ages but leave it and become a 3d **** and work for 3d industry for years but then feel sad about that and want to come back and draw again
so totally i`m newbie here but will try my best to become a bit better

for now will focus more on figures but will try other aspects as well

(After 5 years update on Page 2)

    so will start with these
the last one is after Arquer Buigas (what the hell!)
and personally like the second one for some reason
gestures come from posemaniacs and take about 5-10 mins each one

    hi alshakno,
thanks for leaving a reply in my sketchbook. One thing I noticed about your stuff; it looks like youre only using digital media, no?
One thing that I've learned (and been told) is that you learn faster using traditional media (unless maybe if youre using a cintiq tablet, havent tried one myself though). So grab a pen or a pencil, but no rubber!, and good luck

@MnM: thanks dude, still don't feel ready for that but will try sometime later

@Rene: thanks but don't accept this from you Rene! your studies are at least 2x better than mine and you don't have any crits on my studies?! common rene

@pijus: thanks dear friend, but crits please and thanks again for calling me like that

@Bagg: Thanks, yes it is a little hard but when i look at sketchbook of active friends like you it would be much more easy, the sculpture is more for study but who know, may texture it someday but i promise when it is finished show a beauty render

here is some more gestures and eye studies and eye update on sculpture

Hi alshakno, Good start, keep practicing and you might want to try doing pose-maniacs with cut down time as well. My suggestion would be doing 30 minutes worth of 60 seconds per pose, everyday for a week and you'll see you'll progress quickly.

nose studies are really nice and sculpture is getting really good now

I think the enviroment needs some work though , hard to say if its right or not without the photo hehe. I posted this advice for gabriel-b about environment studies so it might help you too: "one thing that really helped me was this: "paint what you see not what you think you see"... I know it might sound stupid and obvious but it helped me. reading up on some colour theorey might help, and when youre doing these studies dont worry too much about getting the shapes and that accurate just focus on your colour and value. Another useful trick is when youre using the colour picker (not sure if its the same in painter as it is in ps...im using ps) first look at the values and try and get that right by eye and then trace across to the pick the right saturation/colour.

Oh, and at the end it really helps to use the colour picker on the photo and then on your study to compare your choice and what the really colour is, that way you correct yourself and you learn faster. as opposed to just leaving it at the end and starting a new one instead of evaluating how you did."

Another tip for when youre drawing grass or any kind of foliage, block in the darkest value/colour that the grass has with the grass brush or any brush if you want and then go over with the lighter colour. Working from dark to light actually works well for painting alot of things.

    Dont give up

Holy George Bridgman, that is a lot of studies!

Thanks for checking out my sketchbook. Your 3D sculptures are looking really great. I get the gist that you are focusing on structure and that is great, but try not to let that stiffen up your drawings too much. My method is to keep the rough gesture very loose, then I add the structure (which will inevitably stiffen up the drawing a bit) and then put the anatomy on which will bring back the rhythm.

An absolutely amazing book for Rhythm study is Force: Dynamic Life Drawing for Animators by Mike Mattesi. I'd highly recommend checking it out, I think it can be a big help. Good luck!
