Just by reading the little panel on the left I know I use the right brain more and I also see her spinning clockwise, that .gif has the smoothest grayscale I've ever seen.

I see her turning clockwise..........the fact that it is actually possible to see her turning the other way round completely freaks me out

When she first started spinning, I saw her rotating clock-wise. Now that my vision has adjusted to see her spinning counter clock-wise, I can't see it any other way. O.o

Wait... now she is. Dang, I'm confused! I don't know what side of the brain I use now.

I don't know if I really believe that the direction she's spinning shows which side of the brain you're using. Beyond your visual system, I mean.

I can make her spin whatever way I want by just focusing on either the right or the left side of the image. That's how awesome I am

If you look at the frames if the gif it goes both ways. So, your brain must fudge something anywhere.

I saw it both ways but I needed to blink a bit to see it go the other way.

I'm seeing both ways, but I can't seem to 'decide' which way to see it. I'm really curious as to what creates the ambiguity here...

Okay, the way I make my mind 'switch up' is by covering up the entire image except for the leftmost part (so I can only see the arm swinging as she spins around). This piece of the image can be read either as spinning clockwise or spinning counterclockwise. So for example, if I'm focusing only on that and I think 'counter clockwise' and uncover the image, the entire thing looks like it's going counter clockwise.

Does that work for anyone else?

EDIT: Furthermore, I think the illusion comes from the fact that you can't tell which arm is in front and which one is behind, 'cause it's solid black.

Look at the reflection on the floor for a while then when your brain sees that the reflection is anti-clockwise look at the figure again and now it should be moving anti-clockwise too.

wow.... i've been staring at a spinning naked girl for almost an hour now. For the longest time, i could only see it counter-clockwise, and it drove me nuts. Then my friend told me to cover everything but the foot with a window and to force myself to see it the other way. After you see the foot going the other way, then reveal the whole thing, and the whole figure is spinning the other way. Now I can almost switch on command... almost. It takes me a while, but i can get it to switch if i try really hard.

It should be that when it's spinning clockwise, it seems like she is spinning on her left leg, and when it's spinning counter-clockwise, it seems like she's spinning on her right leg.

At first I saw her going counter-clockwise. Then I looked away, and then looked again, and she was going clockwise. Now I can't make her stop going clockwise and go the other way around...it is driving me MAD!!!!

I'm semi-ambidextrous, and sometimes I get confused which is right or left.

oh god, she was invading livejournal, like, half of year ago
still amazing though - most of the time I see her spinning clockwise, but if I move further of the screen and try to focus on lady, she could make a few spins in the opposite directions

I am! My grand father is too. I can eat, brush my teeths, hold and use a tool, or write and draw (but I used to draw with right hand) with either hand.
About the picture, I can see her turning in either way.
I don't really think that is only caused by the use of left or right side of the brain... Space perception can be trained.

First I saw her spinning clockwise... then counter clockwise, then clockwise again. Now I see the reflection going counter clockwise, and the dancer herself going clockwise.

oh my god this is so bizarre, I could ONLY see clockwise, was trying squinting closing one eye shifting viewpoint - nada. clockwise permanently. then I called my dad in caus I thought you guys were making up the counter clockwise thing and he could only see ANTI clockwise and then a popup came up on my screen and I read that and out of the corner of my eye she SUDDENNLY started going the counter clockwise, so if i READ something I can make her change direction, or if I talk to my dad but if I just look at her for a bit she goes clockwise again

    x-X my brain hurts.......

(weirdest was each of us swearing blue that it was going in opposite directions to the one the other said at the same time) :~P

Can you ever trust anything you see? when you're diving a red fish looks blue, so if they're MEANT to live at that depth whats the point in them being red if you cant see red at that depth??? life is confusing ~>-<~

Nothing is really red or blue. Color name is just a nomenclature!

I think it revealed that I am a left brain thinker because I immediately tried to use the reflection to come up with the right answer

Initially clockwise, but I have no trouble switching her back and forth with a mental blink.

Most interesting. At first she appeared to be rotating clockwise and no matter how much I focused on her, I couldn't imagine her rotating counter clockwise. I then went to read the side text and noticed (with peripheral vision) her suddenly change direction and rotate CCW.

It seems that it depends more on what side of the brain you are using at the time. I think I hang somewhere in between. Either that, or it's normal for the rotation to switch when you read the text.

BTW, how accurate is this test?

originally it rotated clockwise though with a little effort it turned anti.
I have to agree with l33t on this one, it probably does depend on which side you use

And of course, with the birth of the artist came the inevitable afterbirth - the critic.

I'd say that the direction in which she is spinning depends on how you see her: from above or from below. If you can't change her direction at will, just imagine seeing her from a higher or lower point of view.
