    aether gun "the ladybug"
The ladybug is a 18th century Aether Gun, named for the reactant chamber on top of the gun looking similar to the carpace of a ladybug.

The ladybug is a shortrange weapon utilising two alcemical compounds which when forced together under high pressure and high rotation (the compound in the highpressure gastube in the back beeing released into the revolving "egg" containing the second compound) produce a superheated steam of extraordinary characteristics.

within the fairly short range that the steam stays in a focused beam, the aether within the beam is disrupted, causing severe structural damage to anything it cuts through.

This weapon was made exclusively for the beautiful but deadly russian assassin known only as "Sirin". The bird that adorns the gun and short blade is linked to the assassins alias, a mythological name taken from russian tales of a winged woman who like the sirens could enchant a man and bring him to his doom. Sirin lived with her grandfather, a jeweller by trade who worked for the faberge house , before the industrial revolution gave way to the Alchemical revolution. The grandfather then sought work with the russian military, using his skill of creating fine detail work for weapons applications garnered from the breakthroughs in alchemy. his granddaughter worked as his assistant, before her becoming orphaned again at the age of eleven, being scooped up by a shady part of the russian secret police and trained as a spy by a shadowy organisation reputedly led by rasputin.

she designed the gun she carries herself, merging the designs of faberge with her grandfathers russian folktales. She is used almost exclusively for assassination assignments, specialising in heavily guarded targets within the nobility and statesmen of europe.

She also collects guns, La Papesse being her favorite, she uses it only in special circumstances, like a sniper duel. She is blond and beautiful, with moonlight-like skin.

Setting: 10-20 years into the future

Character: An electronical engineer for the government Diggler worked trying to solve the earths energy crisis. A brilliant man, he had a breakthrough that would save the world. An offspring of his invention was the selling of his technology to other power hungry nations. The US had a monopoly on Digglers anti-matter generator. Meanwhile the military was already using the device to make high grade megatomic weapons. The imminent war had reached mankind and destroyed all but those who had foreseen this outcome. The wealthy and commanders of the "free world" had survived thanks to shelter deep under the earths crust.

Diggler knowing the potential of his invention had his own shelter. When he emerged and found the scorched barren earth that he had helped destroy he was devastated. He had met many of the other survivors, all of them had condemned him. He was banished from the survival cities that now occupied one of the only remaining fertile areas on the earth.

Diggler had been pushed to the edge of survival. Now all he wanted was revenge.

His weapon: Using a fuel cell from a now obsolete fuel cell car he found a power source. Using his electrical aptitude he constructed a double barrel rail shotgun from parts found in cellars of remaining basements(the houses were destroyed).

Instead of using a single metal shot, Diggler figured out a way to shoot a full shell of shot using one single electronical burst. When accelerating this amount of mass at this fast of a pace shock absorbers from salvaged cars adorned the stock of this weapon.

Uses: Good for tunneling underground, chopping down trees, and vaporizing any carbon based life form on the planet.

Diggler would wield his weapon like it was a magic wand. After hunting down members of the survival city he would perform a magic trick and make part of their body dissapear. The victim would hear the blast, look down and their torso would be missing. The bullets from the rail gun would liquify any mass it came into contact with and the heat would cauterize wounds instantly, keeping his prey alive to suffer longer.

Tepeu was amongst other Mayans no different. He was a man of little pride or greed, and did his duty in the foraging and scouting of the territory of his kingdom. By the moral standards of his society, he was good. Until the day he met a god. The god was dead, but it could be none other than a god, a being like man but not man, gigantic, encased in golden armor. In a mass of tentacles which sufficed for a hand 'it' lay silently. And so it was with many good men, that Tepeu's goodness was a function of his lack of power. In the simple mis handling of it, he pulled one of the metallic tentacled forms, causing the device to unleash a beam of light which turned fifty feet deep into the forest into ash. Though overcome by fear and terror he fled, it was not long before human curiosity, and the hunger to wield such power as his own, brought him back. He would tame this god weapon to his will, adorn it with the honored symbols of his people, and sacrifice many to satiate its any need.

At first he turned the weapon upon the enemies of his kin, and for this the weapon seemed pleased, producing a golden plate in thanks, which he adorned himself with. The weapon would do this on occasion, in moments of splendor and destruction, and by this Tepeu knew his cause was just. And so when he vaporised the armies of his homeland, who had grown fearful of his power, the many plates it produced was sure sign that he should be nothing less than the ruler of all lands, a god through the power granted him by a god.

And so unopposed he claimed the throne, and for a time, all was right. But Tepeu sensed that many of the people held a loyalty to other older gods above their loyalty to him, and so the temple of Quetzalcoatl ceased to be with but a few flashes of brilliant light. But the act was not without a price, for though the god weapon seemed pleased, and produced a plate, in places it glowed a fiery red, again and again, before going silent. Had the act displeased it... had Quetzalcoatl struck the lesser god weapon down, it is not known. But when the people came the tear their king apart, the god weapon remained silent, as Tepeu cried out in fear at how many things he no longer was, at what was sure to follow, the god weapon would not console him. And as the god weapon was laid down into the pit and buried atop the remaining shreds of its arrogant master, the people considered its silent an approval, that the god weapon would watch over the soul of the monster it has served, in silent remorse over the deeds in which is had been accomplice.

It's the revolver of famous American Old West outlaw - Cactus Bill, the long barrel allowed him to kill his victims from long distances, but if he had to fight in close quarters he could use his revolver as a machete.

    Roulette Assassin
This pistol belongs to a sentimental hit man, a roulette assassin who likes to make his job interesting for himself by choosing the gun’s function at random. Multiple triggers in the brass knuckle-type finger holes let him fire a standard round from the top, a mini-missile round from the bottom, or extend a short blade from the center, depending on his mood. Some missiles hold poisons, some rounds are non-lethal.

He always reminds his victims that he survived his first assignment only by chance, so he had a set of cards engraved on the chrome top. He had the handle inlaid with the finger bones of that special first victim.

    The Nailgun of Zuckuss
This Gun is property of Zuckuss, paranoid and schizophrenic bounty hunter and findsman of the origin somewhere in the gases and fogs of Gand.
This Gun propelles needle darts and special nails with a magnetic catapult. Just like Zuckuss, it is very specialised and strikes in complex structures. The combat becomes effective but inflexible, strong sides mix up with weak sides.Multiple telescopes, laser target systems and even a sattelit uplink allow great distances for shooting with standard nails (1. from left). It is also possible to use nails with transport system for poison, like this one or little blast packs or whatever u want to deliver (2), there is even a special version which can correct it's ways or even maneuver to a target which maybe isn't even in sight (3). A sadistic way to get the fugitiveis the pipe dart which causes gas lags in atmosphere suits.(4) Zuckuss uses them as revenge for his own injury which was brought by a fugitive who pulls his amonium gas mask apart, so that venomic oxygen burned parts of his lungs.
The Nailgun brings deadly doom through the mist to its prey wide away, but its cadenza is low. Zuckuss always depends on his partner in close combat for protection.

As usual, some notes on this round:

First of all, I haven't been too strict with checking every detail about your characters, because if I'd really follow my own rule here I'd probably end up with a little less entries. The reason is as I've already tried to explain in the original thread: just a description of what a character looks like doesn't work to actually describe the character of a person. Or, to use a quote from Pulp Fiction: "the fact that you are a character doesn't mean you have character" There are some entries in this round that, in my opinion, do work well though. For example, while Elemedi's entry is rather unfinished still the gun does add something to the actual character he describes (since it reinforces the gambling part). It might be a bit overdone though, with too many elements added to push this point. For that I think Sturnus's entry works better. Even though the description he gave is short and without much detail, and the gun a simple design, it works very well to define the character. Then again, adding character to an Industrial Design object is one of the hardest things to achieve

Dark Eagle: Yours didn't make it to poll since it was rushed. Just thought I'd mention it here even though you said you'd understand, but it was indeed too much rushed. Showed potential though.

If nobody will vote for max martelli, i'll do so.
Even if the quality is obviously not the best, it's the excentricest act of art i have seen in a while to pick someone like Willie Wonka for a Gun Design.
Truely, fuck every rating, this is a big achievment in art synthesis when u compare educt and product!

while i agree with yoitisi about elemendi's entry (too many elements; sometimes simpler is better) I really like the basic idea behind the character, and also appreciate how you made a really new form by combining existing weapons (more interesting than the modified derenger, which i almost voted for)
well done everyone, really cool ideas

wow, this is really hard to decide. I wish there was multi-vote. Hm...
don't wanna offend anybody by not voting on them, but I think I am giving it to elemidi, because it is a very original concept and well rendered.

I could have given the vote to equally sturnus, *fart* or schunnin as well.

I was stuck between Schunnin and Elemedi, both have very original design elements and both were presented very well. I was going to toss a coin, but the small part of my brain that is currently addicted to Lego Batman took over, and the vote went to Schunnin. Very good work from everyone.

Wow, this was a rough one! Nice job all around everyone. I was really torn between schunnin, Sogbad, and Elemedi. You've gotta love the Joker and schunnin's gun fit perfectly. Well rendered and looked very functional. A little dark and dirty, but that's how its supposed to be! Sogbad had a great concept and very tight render... you nailed the Louis Vutton pattern on the hilt. However it almost seemed too clean and had a sort of plastic feel to it. Quick note for evamonkeyn2: You nailed the feather textures and had a great form but the use of heavy blacks masked the form. At first it looked like a headdress. Very eye catching though, well done. Finally, Elemedi (who got my vote) had a very readable design, showing not only the form well, but adding some nice detailing. Finally, you showed a functional sketch that really clarified how the gun worked. Functional, clever, and badass... great work.

Meh i don't mind having my stuff ragged on. Or even being unconstructive crit because you can just ignore all that and pick out the info from it you can use. But just being negative and not giving any info on why. Thats of no use at all.
