First post of the new year for me! Not much here, though just practicing painting in PS on this drawing of Joker. More to come soon!

Some random sketches - some inking and coloring practice on one of them... lines done in Illustrator (first time and it's VERY tedious!) and color in PS. I'm still struggling with color and light, but I'll get there - just need to be patient and keep practicing!

nice to see stuff again! quite sexy. good work with the digi inking too, infact very good by the look of it. for the colouring, maybe you should go with harder shadows? you got em lined out in your sketch already,so why not try them cell-shading style?

    thx everyone!
Carnifex: yeah I think the inking in Illustrator turned out ok, but the color I'm still having trouble with - I wanted to use that technique you're talking about, but I don't know how to do it right and I'm afraid I'll screw it up! I never know where to put all the right shadows and color combos. know of any good tutorials for that style of coloring?

Hey SJ thought id recommend a good dvd set for learning some of the colour techniques.

There are a couple dvds showing various methods, such as realism, anime style, , comic-book style etc.

The link to the site: http://www.digitalarttutorials.com/

Go to this page to preview some of the lessons: http://www.digitalarttutorials.com/previews.php

I think they have a couple of free tutorials available for download off their website.

Anyways just thought this might be helpful to you

    More painting practice...

Does anyone know how to achieve natural looking color blends in Photoshop the way Painter does it? No matter what brush I use, I just can't seem to get that "painting" look - any tips?
    -thx

anybody know any good tutorials on value? I think my colors would look better if my values were more accurate...

although i don't think you should paint over your lineart totally (because it rocks, simple as that), here's one tutorial i have found really useful when it comes to values,and...just about everything.
