    Hello hello.
Thanks for stopping by my sketchbook.
Hey, awesome, you have some good stuff here. My favourite is the last one on #283 (heehee, what is it about bird masks?)
I'd love to see you incorporate more values into your sketches.....y'know, pick a light source and try to convey form that way.
Otherwise keep it up and G'luck

    Thank you very much Tsyroni.
And thanks a lot SquidInc, i know i rather not use values because i always think i'm messing up my work with it, but if i never do it i'll never learn so i'll try to do it more

One thing i want to clarify tho, I still love doing studies and will still do them but to be honest, i don't care much anymore if something looks realistic or not. My focus isn't on Concept Art (then what the hell am i doing on ConceptArt.org? Because i'd still love to get some honest and constructive feedback that you guys have offered me since i started this sketchbook). My focus is on illustration, art and animation, in many different ways but that doesnt mean it always have to match reality.
The reason why i'm saying this here is because i realised lately that there's a very big difference between graphic designers, concept artists and "whatever it is that i'm trying to pursuit" And people sometimes seem to look negative on that because i don't try to follow the path that each "good Concept Artist" should follow, like learning all the rules first and then try to find your style. I think, for my goal, experimentation and studies should go hand in hand and go with the flow while you keep pushing yourself instead of just following the rules like a mechanical copying machine. I want to find and work with things that make the mediums that i work with unique
This is however not an excuse to be lazy in the things that i make so please bless me with your criticism!! I'm still just trying to find my own way in this mess

So for now we have a few small updates, some modelpaints done with brush and ink and then some hand studies from Bridgmen, first black and white pencil on recycled paper and then i drew some in ink with my mouth
    Bon Appetit!

I think you've made a great discovery about yourself in post #337. I think that's really important that you came to that conclusion. I feel like you are def coming into your own style and your studies are coming through in your work. I guess everyone has to find their own way.

thanks everyone! Jellyswirl, i think a lot of people have used fish with legs, i think i've seen it several times before but can't really recall where exactly (i think last time i saw one was in a polish animation film but i'm sure there are others as well)

The sucky thing about not doing a lot of digital work anymore is that you don't update that frequently because of all the scanning :p So from now on it'll only be weekly updates, and once i get my usb stick to school i'll show some more animations as well.

I really love working on this recycled paper and black and white pencil. But i'm still a noob at it so any tips and feedback is more than welcome

    hey lav!
nice studies, i would recommend you to fashion the lines a bit more. for example draw the lines which are closer by the observator bigger than the lines which are farther away.

    look at this example: http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_4OYGjUrdll...00/cloverf.jpg

    *puts on a serious face*

Ok, so by looking at your latest studies, there is some visible improvement. I particularly like those blue (ballpoint?) sketches, those random searching lines show a certain amounts of confidence. Very good. Don`t be afraid to explore that a bit more. As for your pencil studies, remember those 2 important elements - line and value. They go hand in hand, so it may be a good thing to try doing value studies without lines. Just to see how it goes. Also, when shading - take your time. Nobody is timing you. I keep telling myself the same. Play with different stroke directions and pressure. Just to see what happens. But most of all - PLAY. That`s what art is all about in the end. Oh, and what Goldenstripe said - look into that. It`s a very good piece of advice.

    *serious face off*

They guy in the shoppingcart like two pages back, with the pilot outfit. Thumbs up! I think it really showed character and like a paused moment in an event. Really caught hold of me.

Thanks for all the tips and comments, i really appreciate it. There's a massive dump waiting for me to update, but scanning everything takes time so sorry i havent updated frequently. But in the meantime, since i'm at school, i figured i'll show one of my first animations i made, it's old and very amateur like but it's my first 2D walk cycle, so not all the details had to be in it yet, like body and head going from side to side. (oh and it's not my own character design, we had to use this one but i'll update soon with new animations)

Yeah that will be sweet when you get the images all uploaded. Perhaps try some more tonal drawings?
    Looking forward to seeing more.

@LtPlissken: Noooo!! it's not time yet!! Lies!! I just need to find a working monkey that will scan everything for me, they're so hard to find these days

    @purplegoat, thanks

@seagulls, Thanks but i'm not sure what you mean with tonal Like, more values? (btw, i find it very strange for a person to have a name in plural. It always makes me wonder if you're perhaps a human made up entirely by multiple seagulls. And if so, how would you eat?)

So major drawing dump coming in soon. In the meantime, this is the very first assignment for school i had and finally had it uploaded. (it's kind of dark, because of multiple layering, sorry)

The world strongest woman - I like that one,
she better mind for her hernia, pulling that train or bus.

Interesting "baby launched from here mother's womb"
drawing. Is there some special story behind that one?

Overall, great collection of your drawings, thank you
    for sharing.

You said yesterday, that another batch will be posted
today. Is that true, or is the posting process delayed?

Hey Lav thanks for your comments I like these chalk studies on the brown paper, use some hard edges aswell for the tone aswell as smudging. The paper animations are well done, they remind me of that hilarious 'rejected' animation on youtube, which you have probably seen : D
