sebbonaparte: Mmm that was the idea, I didn't really pull it off though :/ thanks

    no87: Thanks

zelda_geek: Yeah! But I always end up doing something really cliched like a hand or a tree, I should work on that, thanks

davekang: If I knew what you meant by that I would! Hmm I guess I'll get what you mean as I improve. Thanksss

Studies of raiden from mgs, I really like this cyborg style, I've seen it around in other artwork as well. Like really advanced stream-lined japanese body armour, with some sort of thing around the face. I can't explain it but it rocks

Great work Sam, your quality of work is really coming along!!
Regarding your finished concept in post #756, the head (assuming it's not a helmet) is a touch large and the torso seems a bit deep. Other than that, nice work!! Great job on the still life and the foreshortened character. Keep up the studies, it's clear that they are helping!

One thing I noticed about this "Raiden" style cyborg design that you mentioned (I actually noticed it myself too) is often prominent bones are seen in the armour designs, e.g. Raiden has armoured collar and jawbones (chin also), it even crosses to Laughing Octopus' camo mask, that is mostly fabric with the exception of the mandible which is an armoured plate. Interesting bit of design there since the fabric conforms to the shape of the wearer's skull thus highlighting it, and then the seperate armoured jaw emulates and therefore reinforces this.

Apparently I'm now typing long pointless posts to avoid work, that will never do!

Just took a look at the first page, you should really do so yourself and see how far you've come. Now imagine what it will be like in the future when this thread reaches page 50!! And to think this took less than a year!! I would shake your hand if you were here in person!

    Keep up the great work!!

    cdejong: Thanks

MacTire: Yeah now that you point that out about the prominent bones I really see it. And I guess you can alter what you accentuate to exaggerate the face in a different way. It's a cool style of armour. Thanks for the kudos, I'm not really sure anyones ever wanted to shake my hand before (don't worry I don't have clammy hands )

Going away for a few days to visit family, Adiós.

SP this morning, I was kind of cranky lol those damn eyes wouldn't go the way I wanted them to...I guess that's just SPs

What was bugging you with your eyes? They don't look that bad... do you think you were not hitting the angle right or something? I wouldn't be able to say.

Cool character too, really nice rendering on that guy's head and mask. Keep it up man.

Just saw your stuff and can only say, I am positive it has been said lots of times already but who cares COPY THE MASTERS ! Take random drawings that you love for say Da Vinci or David or Turner and try to really understand how it was done, and then try to copy it, it is very painful but it will pay off later ! Do not try to be too quick about anything, patience is needed and in any case if you keep it up at this pace you will soon start to feel even more confident and that does a lot !!!!! Great progress ! Keep it up and have fun ! ps try to draw every day ! The more you draw the better you get, it is so logical but very true. Draw drawdraw and then draw some more

Walid D:mm yeah maybe I will, cheers

swedish_spaniard: Yeah looks like two master study requests in a row so I'll just have to do it I'll see what I can get my hands on, cheers

So I got a new moleskine because my old one is full, I decided I'd tippex numbers onto them (1 for the last, 2 for the new one etc.) Anyway, I really like the feel of the brush and stuff so I dug out some ink and a brush and gave it a try, pretty fun. Went over the study I did a while ago playing about, it'll improve

Mate, if you're 15, you're 10000 miles ahead of where I was at your age. I'm actually really depressed now hahaha

Seriously, you're developing some really solid skills here and keeping up your practice. That above all things is the most important part. Keep up the good work!

Start of this new painting looks sweet. That photo study with the chick looking through the leaves was coming along nicely, too.

Don't crit yourself too hard, don't put yourself down! And 15? Thats crazy, if id been producing this stuff at 15 i'd have been one happy bunny. Your making loads of progress, just keep up the hard work and enjoy the journey. Its just under a year since you made this SB and looking back through it there has been so much improvement!Just think what a few more years will do for you! It does take time, but all your hard work will really pay off.

DominK: Yeah some more accurate would be nice

jordyskateboardy: MMmmmmm I'm not sure if I'll continue with it, I don't like it all that much, maybe if i re-did the face completely...

    AmbientChroma: I love you

no87: Thanks. Sorry I'll try and get on soon, I just sometimes prefer to paint without being under scrutiny (not that its a bad thing at all)

HerrleerzeichenS: Nah it's a model off this site I found, Yeah I think my biggest problem at the moment is not enough tonal studies and not finishing anything I start :| I'll try and work more on my stuff, I'm just too used to being a daily artist

    My57: Thanks

RedSquirrel: Yeah I need to stop beating myself up, thanks

Yeah just kinda annoyed with myself as of late becausen I have so much time to work and I just procrastinate, sometimes I just sit around bored, I feel guilty for not working and playing video games instead even though it's the holidays. Ah I guess I'll turn the heat back up at around november, when it's always really cold and dark outside so I have no choice but to stay in and work

Working this as I said I would. I think my biggest downfall here was not planning the empty space behind him and the lighting as well as I could have, ending up with random irrelevant shit, I'll study the planes of the face aswell as it doesn't feel too strong in terms of form. That's what I've learnt

That ink SP looks pretty sweet. The eyes bug me a little, but you're still learning, so I suppose that's easily overlooked. I really like the b/w version of that face.

    Keep on grindin'.
