okay , now for some sketches i did this afternoon and tonight...

did this one while listing to the song Respiration, by Black Star, on repeat for a little while this afternoon.
I sometimes like to listen to the same song over and over while im drawing and let the song sort of create the image...
    = february 25 = (big update)

hardcorepixxx really inspired me to pick up a pen again, so i did this afternoon and did these sketches...
    thanks hpx!

seeing you and metalwinds post right after each other is like getting 2 presents at once, and for some reason like getting punched in the gut twice.

hey wes, it was a pleasure hangin out with you in austin. .however short it was. hope youre up for hangin out more at the next austin workshop.

i wish there was something useful i could tell you. ..something that would help you improve your work, but i cant think of anything. these drawings are on point. ..the compositions, concepts, everything. i also really like how you incorporate environments and perspective into you pages. hope you continue to post in your sketchbook. ...seeing your drawings gets me amped.

    talk to you later, bro

    wassup wes,

ive been a fan of your stuff for like a year now.. i actually knew about your site before i knew about this one, i think i followed the link on jon foster's site.. you and coro's site inspired me to join.. you and him have inspired me to sketch a lot more than i did before.. ive seen improvement since that old site.. mainly in your composition and environments, use of abstract design and geometric form and such.. always a pleasure when u post.. thats cool that you listen to hip hop too.. when i hear the song Respiration, i think of a really bleak concrete city under a bright evening sky.. i like your take on it though..
only suggestion i can think of is to push you expressions some more, and gestures.. your gestures are already good, i think you can challenge yourself to push em even further..

    Damn, wes. These are great!

I also listen to songs over and over again. One song that I love is "Clubbed to death by Rob D" (the matrix soundtrack). I can listen to that song for hoooooourrs and draw.

    Very inspirational stuff wes. !

    *GAWK* .... *GAZE* ... *SWOON*

    --warning: corny stuff below--
Wes, your sketches hit me on more than a visual level, hell, they hit me on all sorts of levels... I'm not even talking what's behind the images, just the images make me all mushy and stuff. There's such .. grace over them.
And I don't even wanna begin talking about their sheer perfection from a technical point of view.

    *more swooning*

PS: THANKS FOR SHOWING!!! Whenever I need inspiration or motivation, a quick glance at your sketches and paintings always do the trick.

i could imagine that respiration piece being a movie or game cover. Your work has a real cinematic quality to it. I always wonder if there are stories behind these characters you draw.

    Incredible stuff,
i love the composition aspect of all your out of heads sketches...
You got a sense of shading without ref which is really amazing!
How did you acquire it the most? drawing from life?
You finished your school sometime ago right?
the thing is i'm starting art school next year, i don't know what to expect, any tips or advices would be great if you have the time, 'cause i really dig your technique...
Final silly question, what pencils? :p ya know, always thinking the tool make the artist, an illusion to survive your sketches

Thx for posting theses, that is partially why i wanna devot my life to art...

Wow WES, I loved those sketches on the first page but I saw them some time ago and I check your website regurarly, im loving it. I dig all the work from austin, and I was excited to hear you put some song on repeat and work from there, I do the same so maybe im on the right track with my drawing sometime

I would really dig to know what pencils you use soft like 2 or 4B, or hard ones 2H 4H, or a midtone, anything you use for your sketches would be cool to know. Thanks allot for the inspiration and I cant wait to see more

Wow man... this stuff is amazing wes. It's funny how I can look at your creative work, and be sure its done from reference. The shading and lines are just so damn good. Shows me how much more I should be drawing. Fantastic work man.
