Wow. I lost track of time looking at all those drawings.
What kind of drawing tool do you use?
you inspired me last year when I first found your work, seeing this stuff is like finding a whole new artist to inspire me all over again. Thank you for taking the time to post these...they're magnificent. Effective mood, amazing figure work, and a style that screams 'pro'. Very very nice.
Everytime I'm looking at your art, I just want to scream out an overwhelming feeling inside of my stomach.
There's just a small number of artists, whose art causes this feeling.
great figurework, great rendering, yer almost a legend in cleveland and u havent even graduated. u rock
thanks again guys, i really appreciate all the comments and feedback...
android- thanks alot man, im going to hopefully scan in all the selfportraits ive been doing sometime soon
nick/bombesei- hahah thanks...yeah we'll see...well you wont, youll be in new york. lucky bastard
metaphysiks- thanks glad you noticed
cybermonkey- the blue page is toned with marker refill ink...a la elcoro's method...then pencil and color pencil done on top
fell- yeah the art education at my school is pretty good. it depends on your major. its sort of like youll have at any other school, there will be just a few teachers that will really teach you and have alot of stuff you can learn from...
mtw- pretty much all the stuff i posted is pencil, wooden ones and mechanical ones. theres a little marker and ink thrown in here and there too.
majestyx- haha cleveland legend? do i know you?
took some digital camera pics of some stuff in my studio today so i thought id post em...
heres two larger paintings i did several months ago. theyre both about 2' by 4', oil on board. too bad you cant really see all the texture. these arent the best photos.
heres a painting i did about a month ago...oil on canvas. approx. 40" x 40". ..
couple figure drawings...
the one print i have of an intaglio plate i was working on before a bunch of my stuff mysteriously disappeared..
heres another one from a few months ago.
graphite/spray paint, 30" x 40"
another older one. graphite, 22" x 30"
and then i think i posted a picture of this one a while back. but i took a better photo today so here it is again...
graphite and oil turpenoid wash, approx. 40" x 50"
and a close up
i also took a handful of pictures of stuff on my walls in my studio...these are huge ..so check em out from these links if you want. you can see lots of smaller drawings that ive yet to scan in and all sorts of stuff i have pinned to my walls...you can probably spot some printouts from conceptart members too...
was just fooling around in photoshop with a picture of me in my studio, so here it is too...

dude you are insane! where are you going to school at?
just when i thought u were amazing. these huge oils paintings rock!!
you have your own studio? thats pretty awesome. suprised you could afford one, the school costs so much to go to! how do you afford to go to school with fees like that and still eat?
i live in canada and when i hear tuition was like 10000 not including tons of other fees, im amazed you have a place to live . thats so much here!!
anyhow, awesome artwork, your definitely going somewhere bud! inspiring
...I love you.
It's so great.
To summarize the summary of the summary : people are the problem.
dang just when I thought you only were the master of the pencil, it turns out your master of the brush as well !? Geez great looking oil paintings, and your studies look fabby as well, I cant comment on anything since I aint that good ( yet ) Good luck and keep it up, its all looking beautifull really breathtaking.. cya when I cya !!
Ohh wow..... It's wierd to know of someone ...that you know will someday have works hanging in places like museums in New York,Chicago,LA .... Your work is amazing ?? Serious question ...do you already have dealers/private collectors interested in your work ??? Do you have people wanting you to do shows yet ?? ...Please keep your strength I know the artworld can be very stressful but you will be one of the greats if you keep a good attitude and passion for art .
hey wes, really lovin those larger paintings. I've had an itch to do big ones myself, but.. i just cant find the space to do them! nice work man.
josh- yeah this is my last year too, finishing up in may...looking forward to it.
endreagan- heh no i dont have my own studio that i rent or anything like that. this is my studio in the drawing department of my school...all the drawing majors have their own little space in this huge room with a bunch of movable walls and stuff. yeah theres no way i could afford my own personal studio right now. i barely scrape by and i have scholarship that covers my schooling.
mrmojo, sinix, jamaludin- thanks guys
pogonip- thanks alot, its nice to hear that someone thinks that, i appreciate it. YEah i've started building up a base of contacts and buyers interested in my work...i'm still mostly producing work for school right now, but that will all be coming soon. ive done a handful of group shows around cleveland with other young artists and its alot of fun. thanks again, ill try to keep it up
stephen- thanks man, go for it anyways, you dont need a ton of space to work large! i do lots of this stuff on the walls of my bedroom
danvd- heh thanks
man wes, your stuff rocks. you'll definitely get something once you get out. good luck man. so what are you gonna do for your thesis?
naw, we "spoke" via email before. and we know some of the same people. like Mr. Boooooo in the 4th painting down. some CIA kids came into the bookstore i work at and that big peice with all the figures popped into the conversationOriginally posted by wes9000

hey wes, this is about my 3rd post on this website(i just joined) just wanna say-WOW!!!!!!!!! great truely awesome.
So much skill poured on paper. It's a visual orgasm!
I've been lurking around your posts and sites for a while now and apparently I'm not the only one drawing inspiration. Wes, it's so cool the way you handle value. I'm just starting out as an art student and was wondering if you could give me any helpful pointers in those areas. Y'know what to practice and stuff. And it looks like you use pretty soft pencils as well. What's your standard sketching tool? You really need to add some tuts or something when you update your site. I absolutely love your faces. Sorry to flood you with compliments. I just really love your stuff. Keep it up. I'll be lookn' for updates.
be a crime not to reply to this thread....Im just completely blowen away by your skills Wes,im iching to try my hand at oils after looking at these..im not very comfortable with oils i have to say..
your figure work is perfect if you ask me..
wish i could think of something original too say,but everyone else has already said everything..
