I'm finding your people drawn very fuzzy due to the small strokes all stuck together. You need to be more sure of yourself and your lines, and once again this required practice. Hehe, sure every artist gets sick of hearing that.

Your sci-fi backgrounds are really well planned out, and your perspectives look solid. I can also see an improvement in your more realistic background work as well.

The composition on your EOW piece is a little bnwuha. Needs something in the foreground, perhaps that astronaut? Kinda clich, but clichs do tend to work. And a slanted horizon on that planet would make it look more demented perhaps. Sorry about the meddling. And hope you're feeling better already.

the small planet looks pretty cool, i think if you add some more depth to the big planet it could help, for the space bit, use this stuff for inspiration

walnut: np as long as it helps! Ill try to work something into foreground. you are right, compositions a bit bnwuha
about the slanted horizon, Ill try... but its going o be tricky cuof more than 5 layers involvedand I dont wanna put them together alreadyso maybe just before final version... thanks for comment

Sketchz: thanks for the link, I think it influenced the img pretty much so far! cool stuff on that site! thanx!!

Nrx: glad you like it! Ill put it to critique center as soon as finishedbut right now EOW is prioritythanks!

    alright update:
I fear that I might over-do (over-did?) it a little with texture and light stuff
I gotta focus more on composition and foregroundanyway, I wanna hear your wisdom and await your input! thanks already!

Sweet man. The surface looks metallic because of the reflection, don't know if that's what you're going for. And for foreground I'd think carefully about where you put your object (which should be high contrast) Probably a little left of the planet, personally I'd bring the spaceman to the front. Keep it up , and more studies

hey big foo trooper? lol big foot rooper. XD

anyway the desert / sunny enviro up there looks pretty cool : ) remember the blue sky is a big orb reflecting blue light everywhere.. so wherever the sun doesnt hit will be absorbing blue light instead. think about adding blue to your shadows

keep it up, thanks for the comment!

For the planet it seems a bit too overcontrasted and a bit too unrealistic. I mean that as in the colours are a bit too saturated and unexpected. It is hard to explain....
Try something else, as the composition in that is pretty bland. You can do better man! Push yourself more!

This is crazy. What's going in your head?! I love the way you rendered that surface at the bottom, looks like some undiscovered metal or something. Colours are nice too. I'm glad the astronaut is gone, made me think of some old mtv video or something, although maybe that would be good given the topic.

As I said it is hard to explain, and by unrealistic I meant too crazy. Just in the way you can have realistic monsters, even though they don't exist, if you get my point.

Damn man thats really impressive, just the over all level of finish on it is great, but for a couple of crits, i think the planet at the back isnt crisp enough, it makes it seem just small rather than really far away, and also i think the design is not up to your usual standards (i really hope this dosnt come across as too harsh but i honestly feel that your other stuff is much more interesting to view), i cant wait to see you push more work up to this level.

also massive props for putting in so much work on it, ive yet to be able to do that man, your raising the bar for this ssg, raising it i saaaaay...

that enviro is wicked man, though the only thing i can say is that the scorpion feels a little out of place, other than that good job.

SamC: thanks, kind sir! yes I will do! way more anatomy from now on. promise. and apologizes for not being on msn…I have 2 new problems: 1. lack of time (<-- silly excuse…) and problems with internet…(<-- real excuse) . after I posted my EOW, It broke down…then it worked only from time to time…and now I fixed it, at least I hope. cheers buddy!

Nrx: way too kind man! thanks! good call on that planet, I agree! about the design…I think I should have added something in the foreground…aswalnut said in the first place…why didnt I listen to him?!(sorry duder) long live the SSG

res01ve: thanks! mucho thanks, keeps me rolling!

Sketchz: yeah, I agree. It was the last part I added and I wasnt really happy either…maybe if it was more subtle like the daemon?
    anyway thanks!

shardana: happy new year you toooo!! I like your wicked designs over in your SB! more of em!!

Hive_minD: thanks dude! really thanks!!! I just saw that you even voted for me in the poll! you sure that you didnt tick the wrong piece?

kidult: thanks man! really appreciated! will do!

hmm. was about time to say something…in the first place I wanna say that I got some kinda flu right now and really feel weak…but Im just making excuses again…one of my new year resolutions was to not life a lie, in no possible aspect. be straight and honest. be yourself.
so there is no excuse for slacking recently
there is also no excuse for not updating today…again.
there was also no reason for slacking while christmas holidays!! I achieved not even half of my "master-plan". I simply stopped doing what I wanted to do! WTF?!?! I wont let this happen again!
aaargh! I need to get back to working.
anyway, I was thinking about how to get me back on track when I received a mail from massive black with my downloads (I bought the limited edition of massive blacks volume 1 !!!) jason chans demo was a real "eye-opener". he also talked about how he worked when he was in high school. he said that he tried to do 1 illustration per weekend! so Im gonna do that to! and during the week , Ill focus on my anatomy studies. and most important of all, I have to get back to daily updates again! to achieve that, I need a new goal I can work for. a new "master-plan" . I found myself a big goal. I wanna got to the next big conceptart.org workshop! believe me, this will keep me drawing every day from now on! ( even if I dont manage to go there in the end!)
I have no Idea how to afford plane tickets and all that stuff. but that doesnt matter.

ah, whatever, this probably wont make too much sense…anyway, expect me to update tomorrow.

    cheers,

    bigfooT

(btw, poll for EoW 102 is open, voting can be done here there are some amazing pieces in there, for ex. the entry of Tonic ! )

but seriously it looks very cool
hope you're up and running again today because it's sketchy time(!) and I wanna see the updates.
