This is pretty raw but it's nice to have something to post (even though it's a few days late, heh ). It's been awhile...

closed, new topic
I admit, it was a bit difficult to decide between Hideyoshi, revenebo, and Blinckk's, but went with Hideyoshi's, but everyone did really well. =]
Very interesting round, everyone captured the atmosphere in some way IMO.
I voted for Hideyoshi, for the overall quality of the image and because I really like those buildings in the foreground, Blinckk, nice and moody speedpainting, and Artemis IX, it looks like a nice theatre scenography and reminds me of an Unreal Tournament setting I used to play often...
I like cognition.sb, IceMoon and Vyse as well.
Relic and gmblfdz nice idea but a bit blurry.
Lander composition is not my strong point but I think it's not clear what the focus of the image is, the terrace or the city.
Mishkin275 the low contrast gives it an interesting dreamy atmosphere but the temple in the bg which should be the center of the composition is so pale that disappears behind the red ribbon in the fg.

alright, nice round!
Vyse: hehe, I was going to cast a vote only for your entry initially, but figured that would have been too much of a favor now (just kidding!)
You put in a great amount of work and it shows that you had fun and learned something on your piece.
Blinckk: almost didn't vote for it, because I think I have seen 2 or 3 other pieces from you that look almost the same. You could try leaving your comfort zone for progress maybe...? Also, despite the color choice, it doesn't actually look very asian to me. You have good sense for color and lighting, but you could improve your drawing/marksmaking.
ArthemisIX: nice architcture, it's got some good depth going on! I like the play with light and shadow. I think there are some scale issues with the ground though. It's hard to define it's place in space.
IceMoon: cool concept, liked it from the beginning. It misses some aerial athmosphere in some places which makes readability a lil difficult. Contrast is too harsh in some areas I believe.
revenebo: ah, the neon goodness! The signage really sells the piece. The fassades on the scyscrapers look kinda odd though. Nice going on the ground puddles.
cognition: howdy, long time no see! The bridge and the people are a neat touch! I am missing some spacial hierarchy here. You could have pushed it by adding some haze to the big building structures maybe. The complimentary colors work well. I'd have tried a softer sky since texture can be a depth killer in certain areas.
hope, you guys don't take my crit too personally. Sorry if I may have sounded harsh...
sorry, only critiqued those that I voted on... no time :/
Hideyoshi: Yes indeed, I've been lurking for far too long I think. heh, been lovin your enviros - really slick. Cheers for the feedback, good points. I'll have to go back into it and do some quick revisions.
Ugh, gtg. I'll edit more comments in later.
shooto.. didnt realize this is a multi vote poll, can mod please add me vote to Arthemis IX and Vyse? great entries!
Multivote?! When did this happen?
kinda says in bold caps in the title
I only had one vote. Oh well.
I voted for Blinkk, Hideyoshi and cognition.sb
Ill just crit these guys coz im a bit short on time.
Blinckk - really nice colour and feel of light. I would have liked to see it a little more refined and worked out though.
Hideyoshi - Love the architecture and asian feel of the scene. I think everything felt a little too uniformally refined though. It became a bit too clean and lost the busy feel of asian cities.
cognition.sb - i liked the style you went for, and the suggestion of the lighting was nice, although i felt in some areas you were hiding behind textures to save you working out what should be there. The people look a bit disproportionate too (heads too big for bodies).
Hope that didnt come across too harsh, these are the 3 i voted for after all, just felt there were a couple of things in each that were worth mentioning. Hopefully there will be something useful there. All round lovely work tho!
it has actually said multivote all along.....
space-sprayer: Thanks for the vote and crit. Heh, I had more detail in a greyscale version but promptly remembered how much I suck at colouring greyscale images, so painted over most of it and couldn't be arsed re-detailing :/
Interesting observation with the proportions. I guess I went too far in my West to East transition - I haven't drawn asian people before. Although when I was in China I did notice a fair amount of the women have long torsos and short legs. It really stands out at first.
Vyse: That's a cool world you've envisioned. It might've been nice compositionally to see more of the platform/structure on the right, and having the foreground structures more exposed by lighting.
Blinckk: Cool piece, looks like you had fun : > Makes a nice mood painting. The central square/circle looks like it missed out on the action and is a bit muddy. Adding a street lamps/a statue/fountain/more markets/whatever would take it even further.
Revenebo: Props for starting with a clean sketch. There are a few areas hindered by the soft airbrushing though, and it'd be nice to get more variation on the skyscrapers. Not just in the texture, but also their form like adding stuff the roof.
