Hey ricardo, great sketchbook, and one that Ive not looked at for a while.

I have a little crit for you - work a little more on gesture and poses. This is something that Im doing myself at the moment, so perhaps Im feeling particularly sensitive to it. From an outside perspective it seems you have strong character design, but the poses let you down slightly.

Perhaps take a look at Bjorn Hurris sketchbook for a bit of an insight into how to improve in this, as he shows his gestural studies quite clearly.

I hope that helps, after all, crits are what were all really here for!

the environment came out great! I am also digging those monster faces, the pose of that last character is way better than the one on top of the page, much more dynamic and expressive. keep going at it amigo

alien concept, the creatures are composed by two lifeforms symbiosis. still a lot of work and adjustments going on.

ThomasM, thank you very much for stopping by. Youre definitely right, I have to work harder on poses, one of my weak points. Thanks for remind it to me, man!

Hey Ricardo, you have some really solid work in your sketchbook. Your design sense is good, which can only be an asset.

However, your understanding of the human figure on the whole might be a bit behind your design sense at the moment. It's nothing that can't be corrected with a bit of gesture drawing/studies. Just look for the rhythm, how one part of the body flows into another, and the overlaps that are created as a process.

It's not a huge thing, really. In the industry, design sense usually comes first. At least, that is my experience. Good grounding in the fundamentals can only help establish you further.

Vritra, thanks for the kind words and input. It is something I noticed, I have to work harder on poses... I promise to do more studies on the subject!

Some more rendering on the creature & parasite. Still a wip.

Oh, this one looks great. The rendering of the glossy/slimy surface has bee executed so well.

Regarding my last crit, the structure and balance on this one looks excellent.

Awesome alien designs there, the symbiotic relationship between these two species looks well executed! Looking forward to more, Ricardo!!

Art is not about competing against others and being better than everyone else, but it is about competing against yourself and discovering your greatest potential!
