    Absolutely fantastic sketchbook!
-And thanks for posting the "step by steps", it really helped me see how I can use perspective better, and hopefully I can actually also figure it out in the actual "doing" phase.

So yeah, great artwork and I look forward to see more

Hey Ricardo, I really dug that video, getting an impression of your process. Out of curiosity, what software did you use for that? The creature turned out great (put it straight into my Creature Inspiration folder), Love all knothole textures you got in there.

The characters have been really intense lately. There's an aesthetic about your armor-design that seems to work fairly organically in both high fantasy and sci-fi contexts.

Ricardo, really superb stuff. Your evolution has bring you to this amazing place were you're now. Personally I still have one critique though: It's about the integration of the heads and the body, and the hands and the body.
Take the crosshatching lady in #1035, the head fails a little. The wrists fail in other drawings, not in that one, but in others. I tell you this, because you're in such a great position, that solving this, could bring you to the top of this forums. You already are one of the best artists in CA, everyone knows you around and knows it (we both know that some of the 5stars people that are going around are pretty much BS, you really or one of the best). Just addressing that, will get you to a level that the people in our level has been dreaming since we joined. Any artist must get excited by finally getting there and I know that you probably are.
That's how good the last drawings are. Congratulations you lucky bastard!

Cool stuff as always! Nice video as well, with a cool creature design! And a nice Cow piece as well, def got my vote on that one! Keep on rockin!

Art is not about competing against others and being better than everyone else, but it is about competing against yourself and discovering your greatest potential!

Your sketchbook is fantastic, I loved your watercolor studies but your concept arts and digital works are also great, I especially like your work on the creatures.

Black Sun thanks a lot, good to know it is helpful.
    Trixtar, thank you mate!
Si_Swe thanx, its photoshop. Yeah I tend to organic designs in both genres, dunno if its good or bad, but i am not a cold-hard-edge tech fan Great to know where my creature is right now, with tons of monsters good company!
-D_Art- gracias, dentro de poco subir ms vdeos
kingkostas wassup mate? are they treating you good? gracias por la visita y espero ver cosas tuyas pronto!
Lennon thanks a lot for the kind words, as I said you made my day. I dont worry too much about the stars, but to develop my art to the highest place where i can reach. I am in the forums just for pushing myself to work more and more, and learn of all you Definitely the neck and waist areas are one of my weak points in anatomy, must study more. Thanks again, see ya over here man!
Rob Powell thanks, great to know i earned your vote!

wow, ric the linework on the last page is awesome!
in some of your pieces, especially the last one - hmm i dont know if its because of the dodge brush or overlay-layers or burn stuff but your lights sometimes are extremely oversaturated.. on that last piece theres maximum yellow in the flame, and maximum orange and maximum white everywhere on the lady, a bright light from lower left corner, saturated blue in the top - its a bit freaky i know rules are to be broken, but id recommend you to play around with color triads abit (you know mainly construct the image of one high saturated color and two lower saturated ones) - and hmm im not too experienced with overlaying textures over a painting, but maybe you should take some more care about the geometry that lies below the overlayed texture - if you look at her left arm, theres a big texture overlayed that kind of breakes up the shapes and geometry of the painting because it doesnt relate to the geometry of the arm

hehe re-reading what i wrote i hope you dont take me wrong, your work is great! hopefully its helpful anyway

    thanks for feedback

the thing is that i don't really have problems with being expressive and loose, i can't achieve the realism in my works, that's why i decided do resign from dynamics

like in your last one or in pink creature
i don't know if it's about references, textures or patient in detailing the picture
but i will finally find the method

    aaand keep rocking mate!!

Last artwork is awsome! maybe only lower piece of background is annoying, I don't understand that why, but is it. It's something but nothing also,I think it's too much brightness just like charackter.

Haha, yep. He's hanging out with a lot of cool critters in that folder. Lots of Mike Corriero stuff to keep 'im company. I think I mis-phrased my software question in that last post. What I meant was: "what software was use to create the time lapse?" rather than "what software was used to create the creature?". I've been meaning to do a time lapse on one of my own pieces, but I don't really know where to start.

Killer details on this one. I almost want those firey tendrils to permeate the image a little more. Like maybe have them twist round behind her head or something.

The last piece, after some revisions based on the crits/suggestions:

    Name: The Newborn 3.jpg
Views: 817
Size: 516.8 KB

xbert thanks for the help, you was right about the brightness and the color issues. Lately i am working from b/w values to color and its getting a bit hard to control the tones and all. Anyways i have tons of problems with the color, i tend to go a bit crazy about the schemes... lot to learn with this. Sometimes I abuse with the overlayed textures and dont use it correctly, got to use the brake with that Im not still 100% happy with the results in that one, but i guess it improved at least. Thanks again!
takashmen thanks! the only advice i can give is that if you want to achieve realism=study from real life=do lots of still lifes and material studies.. that should work nice.
Swiezy thanx, I wasnt sure about the background neither.
    asa thanks, you machine!
Si Swe hehe big hugs to Corrieros creatures then! great company!- I used Camtasia, its an easy program and works fast. I just record fragments and then I put them together and increase the frame time speed. I use it in a very basic level but if you need any tips just let me know.

Nice work on the 'the newborn' piece.
Really dig a couple of enviros some pages back, the Ricodragon I think, and the blue technical hallway. Totally cool.

Great values man and nice robot design.
Be careful with the anatomy a bit. It seems that the left leg as i look at it, is a bit off.
Maybe try to rotate it and bring it closer to the other one so it can seem more solid.
    Keep up man!
